Abstract
Flavones are prepared by dissolving a flavanone in a basic solvent, dehydrogenating without isolation of an intermediate using iodine and then isolation of the flavone formed. Preferably, diosmin is prepared from hesperdidin. The process is easy to carry out and gives the final products in high yield and great purity.
