Abstract

UN método para evitar la diseminación de material radiactivo en el medio ambiente que comprende : (a) impregnar los poros de una preforma de vidrio poroso con material radiactivo, caracterizándose dicha preforma por una estructura poroso interconectada, (b) calentar dicha preforma a la temperatura de sinterización para aplastar su estructura porosa, y © obtener un producto de vidrio no poroso que contienen una cantidad de material radiactivo encapsulado e inmovilizado en él y suficiente para proporcionar una actividad de radiación mayor que al menos un milicurie por centímetro cúbico de producto de vidrio.
