Abstract
An improved, combined, non-refillable fitting/seal system for a bottle comprising a molded plastic tubular body having an outer diameter no greater than the external diameter but greater than the internal diameter of the neck of the bottle next to the mouth of the bottle. The bottle, said body having an external thread toward the upper end or mouth thereof, said body housing a non-refillable fitting having a cylindrical portion extending beyond the lower end of the tubular body a seal that grasps said cylindrical portion and extending radially outward to lie below the lower end of said tubular portion and having a plug portion adapted to fit the inner diameter of the neck of the bottle and to seal against it, said tubular body being located within an outer metal shell that has an upper part, an upper skirt portion connected to a lower safety band portion by a series of angularly spaced bridges located in an interrupted peripheral groove line, at least the lower portion of the safety band having a diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the neck of the bottle, having said safety band and said body portion mutual coupling formations for maintaining said body in holding relation with said bottle when said safety band is applied to a shoulder or groove of the bottle.
