Abstract

Procedimiento para preparar un catalizador de plata soportado, adecuado para la producción de óxido de etileno por oxidación parcial, en fase vapor, controlada, de etileno co oxígeno molecular, caracterizado porque comprende las etapas (A) impregnar un soporte refractario poroso con un líquido contiene un compuesto o complejo de plata, sumergiendo dicho soporte en el líquido y manteniendo el soporte y el líquido en contacto hasta que el líquido ha sido absorbido en los poros del soporte (b) separar las partículas así impregnadas de cualquier resto no absorbido del líquido; © activar las partículas así impregnadas, convirtiendo el compuesto o complejo de plata a por lo menos un miembro del grupo consistente en óxidos de plata y plata elemental, estando al menos parte de la plata en forma elemental, y siendo efectuada dicha conversión por calentamiento de las partículas impregnadas en presencia de un gas inerte esencialmente libre de oxígeno , a una temperatura a la cual se descompone el compuesto o complejo de plata para dar, al meno en parte plata elemental (d) depositar sobre las partículas activadas de 4 x 10 -5 a 4 x 10 -3 átomos -gramo por kg de catalizador de al menos un metal alcalino elegido entre potasio, rubidio y cesio, estando dicho metal alcalino en forma de una sal.
