Abstract

The improved lightweight wheel for the motorcycle or moped has a cast alloy wheel rim with a rib (5) on the inside facing side. Elastic spokes (13) link the wheel rim to the hub casting, with the spokes set in two sets of inclined supports. The spokes are arranged in pairs, bolted to the rim and hub flanges direct. For light applications a single, thicker spoke can replace the pair, with forked ends for clamping on either side of the hub and spoke flanges. The wheel retains some of the resilience of conventional spoked wheels.
