Abstract

A method of manufacturing a filler composition for cables and electrical devices, the composition comprising a major proportion of low-density polyethylene constituent A and a minor proportion of low-density polyethylene constituent B, constituent A having an index value of melt flowability of 5 to 140 dg/minute when measured according to ASTM D-1238-70 at 50ºC and a total load of 260 g using a 2.1 mm orifice matrix, the composition being a kneaded and molten mixture of constituents A and B and having a melt flow index of 0.1 to 25 dg/minute when measured according to ASTM D-1238-70 at 50ºC and a total load of 2160 g using a 0.5 mm, characterized by rapidly cooling the kneaded and melted mixture of constituents A and B from a temperature above the melting point of the mixture to a temperature below about 90ºC.
