Abstract

Improved process of cracking naphtha to produce alkenes and alkanes, the naphtha of which has a boiling level of 32 to 204ºC and a specific gravity of 0.65 to 0.78, comprising mixing of approximately 1.0 to 35 parts by weight of SH2 (or a proportion of a compound that produces an SH radical in the cracking environment, sufficient to give said amount of SH2) per 100 parts by weight of naphtha and SH2 (or supercursor) in the mixture comprising the latter (or precursor thereof) and the naphtha to be cracked, and then the passage of the resulting mixture through a reactor maintained at a temperature of 593, at approximately 1,093ºC, with a residence time of 0.25 to 2.0 seconds and a pressure of 0 to 4.57 kg/cm2.
