Abstract

Refinements introduced into fuel elements for nuclear reactors comprising a hermetically sealed envelope having nuclear fuel arranged in a part thereof, the rest of said envelope forming an overpressure chamber filled with pressurized gas, and at least one closed collapsible capsule normally hermetically arranged in said overpressure chamber, characterized in that said capsule is tubular and is provided with a sausage intended to progress axially as a result of a predetermined gas pressure in said overpressure chamber, thus causing its gradual crushing upon there is an increase in the pressure inside said overpressure chamber in order to keep the pressure of said overpressure chamber substantially constant.
