Abstract
Nuevos dibencilfenoles halogenados que responden a la fórmula general I, así como a su procedimiento de preparación **fórmula** donde A es un átomo de halógeno y R1,R2,R3,E4,R5 y R6 son cada uno un átomo de hidrógeno o de halógeno, con las siguientes limitaciones: a) A es diferente del átomo de fluor cuando R1=R2=R3=R4=R5=R6=H, b) A es diferente del átomo de cloro cuando 1) simultáneamente R3=R4=H y R1=R2=R5=R6=Cl 2)simultáneamente R2=R3=R4=R5=H y R1=R6=Cl y 3)simultáneamente R1=R2=R5=R6=H y R3=R4=Cl. Ya se han preparado diversos dibencilfenoles halogenados o trifluormetilados sobre el núcleo fenólico y se ha estudiado su actividad bacteriostática. Pero ahora se ha encontrado que los dibencilfenoles, igualmente sustituídos con uno o dos átomos de halógeno sobre cada uno de los núcleo de los grupos bencilo, tienen una actividad bacteriostática considerablemente más elevada que los anteriores. Los compuestos de fórmula I de la invención se preparan por un procedimiento que, en general, implica dos etapas para los compuestos asimétricos, es decir aquellos cuyos núcleos de los grupos bencilo están sustituídos de forma asimétrica con relación al núcleo fenólico.
