Abstract

An imaging apparatus comprising: a light source including a flash tube for exposing a light responsive imaging medium to produce an image with a color density dependent on the amount of light it is exposed to said medium; a master organ or image formation pattern, mounted between said spring and said medium; and a control arranged to supply said flash tube with a series of electrical pulses to produce a corresponding series of flashes, to limit the energy value of each of said pulses to no more than 5% of the characteristic burst energy of said flash tube, and to approximate said pulses in a sufficient degree in time so that most of the heat generated by each corresponding one of said flashes is still present in said flash tube when the last of said flashes of said series occurs.
