Abstract

Improvements in liquid fuel injection pumping apparatus, of the type comprising, in combination, a body, a rotary distributor mounted inside the body, a cross bore practiced in the distributor, a pair of pistons mounted with reciprocating capacity inside the bore, an annular cam mounted within a cylindrical housing defined in the body, a pair of rollers which, by interacting with cam lobes formed on the inner periphery of the annular cam, imprint an inward movement to the pistons, respectively, as the distributor rotates, and fluid pressure actionable means by which the angular adjustment of the annular cam within the body can be graduated, characterized in that the thickness of the annular cam is reduced to the point that deformation takes place of the annular cam when the rollers come into contact with the cam lobes, the annular cam deforming until it enters r in contact with the housing wall in order to minimize the torque reaction transmitted to said fluid pressure actuatable means.
