Abstract

A partition wall providing cupboards 3, 4 comprises opposed panels 2 forming a double panel vertical wall between adjacent cupboards 3, 4 and extending substantially perpendicularly to the cupboard front walls 6. Vertical posts 1 are joined by a composite element 7, 8, 9 and by horizontal spacers (not shown). The composite element comprises two parts 7, 8 joined by a tongue 9 to allow horizontal displacement of the posts 1 relative to each other to accommodate expansion of the building structure in which the partition wall is mounted. Joining of the cupboards to conventional partitioning 14, 15 is by means of a replaceable cover strip 13 and a flexible sealing strip 12 through which a bolt 11 engages to clamp a framing member 10 on to one of the elements 7, 8. An arrangement of grooves concealed by cover strips may traverse the ceiling and walls of a room to allow for repositioning of the partitions providing cupboards.
