Abstract
A hood adapted to cover the Fourdrinier section of a papermaking machine has at least two sections, supported on wheels riding on side rails or trackways, the sections having a combined length equal to that of the Fourdrinier section, each section having a roof and sidewalls, the sections forming the ends having end walls, the sections being so dimensioned as to be telescopable, at least one section having driving means for moving it. The driving means may move one or more sections. As shown in Fig. 3, the section includes wire-cloth B headbox 44 and saveall 46, with white water outlet 47. Doors 13 and windows may be provided in the hood. The hood may be removed from over the section to facilitate wire-changing. An air circulation system may be provided. As shown in Fig. 14, air may be drawn into 51, heated and pumped to inlets 52 and 53, which lead the air to grilles 64, 66, 71, 72 and 73. These pipes may be contained in a false roof of the hood. Outlet pipe 84 leads to extractor 83 and exhaust 82, and exhausts air from grilles 86, 87. The exhaust system may be fixed to a fixed wall. The inlet system may be integral with the hood, movement of the hood disengaging inlet pipes at 56. The exhaust system may similarly be arranged so as to disengage on movement of the hood.
