Abstract

A platform comprises a buoyant deck 1 and pentagonally-disposed vertically-movable columns 2..6 for supporting the deck upon subaqueous ground, each column extending through, and being lockable relative to, a rectangular frame 9 attached to a circular-frame 10, which is secured to the deck and rotatable about its vertical axis of symmetry. Each frame 9 is such that the respective column when raised above the ground can move horizontally therein, thereby in combination with the associated frame 10 rendering the platform capable of "walking" in any horizontal direction, the deck being supported by three of the columns while the other two are being raised and shifted transversely in the required direction. The location of the deck in any horizontal plane can be changed by rotating all of the frames 10 simultaneously and/or simultaneous horizontal movement of the frames 9 relative to the columns. The platform may comprise six or more polygonally-disposed columns instead of five.
