Abstract
Compounds of the general formula (Ph= 1,2-phenylene alk 1 = alkylene contributing 1-3 ring carbon atoms B = alkylene or alkenylene contributing 4-6 ring carbon atoms alk 2 = alkylene Am = amino or alk 2 + Am = azacycloalkyl, azacycloalkylalkyl, N-alkylazacycloalkylalkyl, wherein a heteroatom in the alk 2 group is separated from the nitrogen atom by at least two carbon atoms R=H or OH), their 1-dehydro derivatives, acyl derivatives, N-oxides, quaternary compounds and salts are prepared by (a) replacing X in a compound of the formula by alk 2 Am or (b) reacting a compound of the formula with a tent.-aminoalkyl metal compound and hydrolysing the product, optionally followed by conversion of a 1-hydroxy compound to a 1-dehydro derivative and/or conversion to an acyl derivative, N-oxide, quaternary compound or salt, and/or resolution. The starting materials are prepared by standard methods. The above compounds are analgesics, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
