Abstract
In an encapsulated motor compressor, for a small refrigerating machine, having a pump which draws from a sump 42 cooling and libricating oil which is returned thereto in two streams which are via respectively a wall of the housing 1 and coil ends 18 of the motor stator 5, the latter stream passes directly, without any intermediate lubricating functions, from the pump to the coil ends. Thereby, as increased quantity of unheated oil may be passed to such coil ends, and in the embodiment shown this second stream is pumped by the conical element 31 of an outer tube 29 through a chamber 34, passages 35 in the rotor 12 or rotor bore or shaft exterior, to the coil ends. The lower coil ends 19 are cooled by a stream through radial passages 33 in the tube flange 32 or in the rotor squirrel-cage end ring 17, and by the second stream often passing through orifices 37 in the motor-carrier 2 and a deflecting device 39. The first stream is pumped by the conical element 22 of an inner tube 21 to a transverse hole 23 leading to a shaft bearing 3 and to at least three longitudinal bores 24...26 which open to a centrifuging disc 14 which throws the oil on to the housing wall and of which bores 24 and 26 extend through transverse holes (27, 28) Fig. 2 to a crank bearing 11 and a shaft bearing 9. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, the twin tube pump is replaced by a single tube having a protuberance (47) and holes (48) adjacent the lower end ring 17.
