Abstract

Apparatus for hot dip lacquering as described in Specification 863526 of the type having a chamber 1 heated at 8, and a chamber 2 having a cooling coil 3 connected to the chamber 1 by an opening 5, is provided with a partition 4 in the cooling chamber and extending below the cooling coil 3, the vapour being at the same level on each side of the partition. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the cooling chamber, is arranged inside the chamber 1. A pipe 7 vents the chamber 2 to atmosphere or the working space. A separator 11 separates the hydrocarbon from water, which is removed at 9. The effect of the partition 4 is to maintain a vapour seal, which keeps atmospheric moisture from reaching the cooling coil, yet allows water vapour to be removed from the hydrocarbons.
