Abstract

An inductive displacement transducer comprises a rectangular zig-zag conductive pattern SM Fig. 1 on a fixed member FG fed with A. C. from a source Q, faced by a similar conductive pattern EM on a shorter movable member SG, whereby the amplitude of the voltage induced in the movable pattern EM varies sinusoidally with axial displacement, and is zero when crosswires S Fig. 2 of the movable member are midway between the crosswires S of the fixed member. If the induced voltage is fed via amplifier V and phase rectifier PG to a control device R attached to the movable member SG, the latter is automatically moved to a position of zero induced voltage. To compensate for the voltages induced in the linkwires SV, the energizing current I is returned to the feed point P by two parallel paths L. The transducer may be associated with a linear or circular path.
