Abstract
A doll has a trunk with four articulately connected limbs. The limbs are each formed by at least two articulately joined members, each member comprising at least one element that defines the external shape of the limb. Either the limbs are separately covered by an outer skin of elastic material or a common skin of elastic material can cover both the limbs and trunk. In the figure, a knee joint comprises two pivotally attached hemispheres, 2, 3 each having a projection 1, 4. "Shell" elements 6, 7 defining the shape of the upper leg 5 and elements 9, 10 defining the lower leg shape 8 are fixed to the projections 1, 4 by pins engaging apertures. The seams of the "shell" elements can be glued together or merely held together by their elastic skin 15. The skin is made by immersing the doll in latex or synthetic elastomer solutions, by an extrusion-blowing process from a processable thermoplastic styrene/butadiene rubber, or by moulding an elastomer.
