Abstract

A brake of the type in which a piston 2 in a cylinder 1 is urged by a spring 12 to the brake applying position, and by fluid presusre to the release position is characterized in that the driver's valve 13 is mounted adjacent the cylinder 1 and includes a non-return valve 25. The non-return valve 25 ensures that a break in the feed pipe 14 does not apply the brake. Actuation of the driver's valve 13 is by a cable 39, the length of pull necessary being indicative of the travel of the brake actuation lever 5.
