Abstract
In mechanism for withdrawing and winding-up the yarn in break-spinning apparatus, the rotation of which mechanism can be reversed for repriming the apparatus in the event of a break in the withdrawn yarn, the winding mechanism comprising a traversedrum, and the withdrawing mechanism comprising a pair of nip roilers, one of which is driven and the other is a pressure-roller, the pressure-roller is mounted so that it can be lifted off the driven roller to this end, it engages a working-member which is controlled by a device according to the direction of rotation of the traverse-drum, so that during the reverse rotation of the latter for re-priming, the withdrawing rollers are spaced apart. In Fig. 1, yarn 2 is withdrawn from the spinning-chamber 1 by nip rollers 3, 4 to be wound on a package 9 under the control of a traverse-drum 8. The roller is driven by the drum 8 which is itself driven by a motor 17. The roller 4 is mounted on a pivoted arm 5. The presence of yarn between the chamber and the nip-rollers is sensed at 15, and the direction of rotation of the roller is sensed at 14. When the yarn breaks, the sensing-device 15 supplies through a device 16, an impulse to the drive 17 causing it to reverse the direction of rotation of the roller 8, and accordingly of roller 3. When the drive 14 senses the reversal, a device 13 supplies an impulse to a member 11 which causes the arm 5 to pivot and raise the roller 4. In Fig. 2, the pressure-roller 4 is. carried by an arm 20 pivoted at 6. The driven roller 3 is keyed to a shaft 18, Fig. 3, and when the direction of rotation is reversed it displaces a cam 33 to pivot the arm 20 and raise the roller 4. The inside of the roller is hollow and provides a hub 22 with a profiled surface 23 cooperating with rollers 24 to form a one-way clutch between the roller and a ring 28 with a friction-pad 32 urged against a cam 33 by a spring 31. During the spinning operation, as the roller 3 is. rotated to withdraw the yarn, the clutch is disengaged, and the cam tends to rotate in direction opposite to that in which the roller is rotated under the influence of a spring 36 secured at one end to the cam and at the other to a fixed part 38. This tendency of the cam to rotate is restrained by the engagement of a pin 42 with a face 40 of a recess 39 in the cam. When the roller is backrotated for re-priming, the clutch is engaged and the cam is driven through the ring 30 and pad 32, the rotation of the cam being limited as the opposite face 41 of the recess engages the fixed pin 42. As the cam rotates, a profile 44 thereon engages the arm 20 and causes it to pivot and lift the roller 4.
