Abstract

Indicator device for wear of the brake linings, especially for use in a brake assembly of the type in which, a rotatably mounted cam shaft supports a cam disposed between separable brake shoes provided with friction linings engageable to the drum, a play adjusting lever rotatably and adjustably connected to the cam shaft and comprising means for oscillatingly adjusting the cam shaft about its longitudinal axis to compensatively replace the cam in order to determine the returned positions of the brake shoes when worn the lining of the latter, and means for indicating the relative rotation of said cam shaft relative to said lever to indicate the degree of wear of the brake lining on said shoes, characterized in that it comprises an indicator plate fixed non-rotating to said lever and perforated to give way to the end of said cam shaft, and a dial plate c operative mounted non-rotatably and adjacently on said cam shaft axially outwardly of said indicator plate and means for axially retaining said dial plate on said cam shaft.
