Abstract

A method of making a pneumatic tyre having a radial cord carcass comprises the steps of partially curing a rubber sheet and applying the same to a tyre building drum to form the whole of the radially innermost surface of the tyre, and superposing on the rubber sheet a strip of rubberized parallel cord fabric, the cords of which will, in the finished tyre, be substantially in radial planes of the tyre. The rubber sheet may be axially extended to form chafer strips in the bead regions of the tyre. An adhesive solution may be applied to the contacting faces of the rubber sheet and the parallel cord fabric.
