A common paint brush has a handle at one end of which a bushing is provided surrounding one end of the handle, as well as one end of the bristles. The bristles are fixed inside the cap with a glue. The bushing has U-shaped curvatures on its lateral edges, as well as on its outer surface at least one circumferential groove, mostly several circumferential grooves extending in parallel.

When a paint brush is shipped or offered, the bristles on the brush are generally not packaged or covered. Sometimes the bristles of a paint brush are damaged during shipment. Also, the bristles may get dirty.

These bristles can be clamped inside the U-shaped channel and shoulder when the top is closed. In this way, the bristles are damaged.

The underlying object of the present invention is to provide a case for covering the bristles of a paint brush that can be manufactured with less effort. Another object is to provide a case in which a painting brush can be inserted without risk of damaging the bristles when the case is closed, said case further allows, in an interlocking stage, to cover the bristles in a hermetic manner.

This objective is solved by the features of claim 1. Embodiments of the inventions are described by the features of claims 2 to 8.

The proposed kit can be used to cover the bristles of a paint brush when the paint brush is shipped and offered. That is, the proposed case to cover the bristles can form a protective container and be sold together with the paint brush. The lower part can be formed in one piece, that is, the first lower section can not be divided. According to the invention, sealing mechanisms are provided on an inner surface of the side wall. The proposed kit can be manufactured inexpensively. The rib on the inner surface of the side wall can be produced in one piece with the side wall and the bottom. It is not necessary to provide a separate sealing material and mount the sealing material to an internal side wall of the case.

In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the rib extends along at least 70 percent of an inner circumference of the side wall. In order to provide an essentially hermetic seal of the case with the socket, it is advantageous that the rib extends along at least 80 percent, preferably at least 90 percent, of the inner circumference of the side wall. Most preferably, several ribs are provided which extend in parallel along the inner circumference of the side wall. The ribs correspond in shape and arrangement to grooves extending around an outer surface of the bushing. By engaging various ribs with the grooves provided in the bushing, an effective labyrinth seal is created.

According to the invention, a section of the upper circumferential end of the side wall is formed so that the at least one rib is pressed into the groove.

The upper circumferential end section of the side wall preferably corresponds to the shape of the socket and surrounds the socket when the rib engages the groove. The side wall generally extends at a 90 degree angle from the bottom. Therefore, an edge of the side wall opening that is provided in the upper circumferential end section has essentially the same circumferential shape as the lower part.

The hinge can be a film hinge connecting the first and second sections of the side wall. This makes it possible to manufacture the case in one piece, for example by injection molding.

The case can be manufactured as a single piece by injection molding. Advantageously, it can be made of a transparent plastic material. The case can be made from one of the following materials: PE, TPE, or TP.

The first section of the case 11 comprises a first side wall section 11a and a first lower section 11b that connects with the first side wall section 11a. The second section of the case 12 comprises a side wall section 12a and a second bottom section 12b that connects to the second side wall section 12a. A section of the upper end of the side wall 3 comprises the ribs 4. The upper end section is formed so that the side wall 3 surrounds the bushing 7 in a closing stage so that the ribs 4 engage the grooves 6 of the bushing 7. In the closing stage, the ribs 4 are pressed into the grooves 7 so that a labyrinth seal is provided.

When the paint brush 9 is provided with the case 1, the bush 7 is inserted into a first section of the case 11 so that a first edge portion of the bristle pack is covered with the first U-shaped bend of the first side wall section 11a. Then, the second section of the case 12 is deflected around the hinge 13 so that the second side wall section 12a meets the second U-shaped curvature of the second opposite edge portion of the bristle bundle. Finally, the first section 11a and the second side wall section 12a are closed by means of the first 14 and the second 15 closing elements. The specific shape of the case ensures that no bristles 10 are clamped or damaged when the case 1 is closed.

The case 1 can also be incorporated in a simplified manner where the bottom 2 and the side wall 3 are formed in one piece without providing a hinge 13. In such a case, grooves are preferably provided within the curved region of the side wall 13 extending from the edge of the opening 5 in the direction of the bottom 2.
