Abstract

The application relates to an absorbent substrate for absorbing and storing liquid body discharges, for example undersheets for patients, disposable diapers or sanitary towels, a liquid-absorbing body being provided on one side with a film of liquid-impermeable material having an opening or several openings, and the other side being provided with a film of liquid-impermeable material preferably free of openings, having the following features: one or both films of liquid-impermeable material (12, 14) is or are connected by lamination on the outside with an allocated absorbent, liquid-permeable nonwoven web (11) covering the openings (13) of the film (12) of liquid-impermeable material. For a sanitary towel, a nonwoven web is laminated with two strips of plastic film having a mutual spacing in the central region of the nonwoven web, the complete web thus obtained is shaped into a tube and connected at the overlapping edges by bonding or welding, and furthermore the tube contains a filling of absorbent material and the tube is closed at its two ends by bonding or welding with a transverse weld seam.
