Abstract

A pressure valve (1) includes a closure member (8) which is under bias and adapted to be forced against a valve seat (7), with a force substantially exceeding the bias for the nominal pressure of response while the pressure is substantially below the response pressure. With the nominal pressure of response on the inlet side of the pressure valve (1), a force adjusted to the nominal pressure of response is applied to the closure member (8). This achieves good sealing of the pressure valve (1) even with dirt particles contained in the working medium. The bias force is adjusted by movement of piston 15 in accord with the prevailing pressure which adjusts the displacement of bias spring 12.
