Abstract

2(2,4-Dinitrophenylthio)benzimidazole is prepared by heating 2,4-dinitro-chlorobenzene with 2-mercapto-benzimidazole in ethanolic sodium hydroxide. The corresponding 5-methyl and 5 - chloro-benzimidazoles are similarly prepared.
