Abstract
A process for the catalytic hydrogenative refining of gasolines obtained by thermal cracking of hydrocarbon oils in the presence of steam, or of fractions thereof, comprises passing the gasoline or fraction at temperatures below 200 DEG C. together with a hydrogen-containing gas through one or more reaction zones, characterized in that a portion of the wholly or partly refined gasoline, before or after mixing it with hydrogencontaining gas, is heated to a temperature higher than the temperature at the beginning of the first, or only, reaction zone, preferably 10 DEG -70 DEG C. higher, and then this heated portion is mixed with the fresh gasoline or fraction, as well as with the hydrogen-containing gas if the latter has not already been mixed with the said portion before the heating thereof, and thereafter the resultant mixture is introduced, without deliberate further heating or cooling, into the first, or only, reaction zone. The weight ratio of recycled to unrefined gasoline is preferably 0,5:1 to 5:1, and the refining is preferably carried out at 50 DEG -200 DEG C. and 20 DEG 60 kg./cm.2abs. although 1-200 kg./cm.2abs. may be used. LHSV 0,25-5 litres of liquid starting material per kg. catalyst. 50-600 litres (N.T.P.) gas per kg. feed.
