Abstract

5-Aminoethyl-2-furfurylamine is prepared by subjecting 5-aminoethyl-2-furfuryl alcohol to amination with ammonia at an elevated temperature above the critical temperature of ammonia and under a pressure of from 1,000 to 10,000 p.s.i. The process is preferably carried out in the presence of a Raney nickel catalyst and an organic solvent such as an alcohol or dimethoxy ethane. Specification 911,221 is referred to.
