Abstract

The steering guides a vehicle on a predetermined course (4) using two adjacent wheels (1,2). The steering motions which are necessary to maintain the course, are produced by driving and braking torques of equal magnitudes and opposing directions. The motions act simultaneously on the adjacent wheels of the vehicle or bogey, so that driving and braking forces of equal magnitudes and opposing directions arise at the contact points on the wheels, to create a steering moment. The driving and braking torques may be produced by separate generators.
