Abstract

A plastic screw cap for initial, mechanised closure of a container has a thread (13) similar to that (1.7) of the container neck and projections (1.4, 1.5, 1.6) on the rounded edge formed by the cap inner wall (1.2) and the cover plate. The cap screw-on action ends suddenly when the container thread (1.7) contacts the projections. A claimed use for the cap is in the initial mechanised closure of glass or plastic, esp. PET bottles with screw threaded necks. The entire cap including projections, reinforcements is injection moulded in plastic.
