Abstract
The composition comprises a water-soluble liquid alcohol which acts as a freezing point depressant, such as a glycol, and a corrosion inhibiting system which, per hundred parts by weight of the composition, comprises: a) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of a monocarboxylic acid and/or its alkali metal, ammonium or amine salts, b) from 0.01 to 0.3% by weight of a triazole and/or its alkali metal salts, c) from 0.01 to 0.5% of an oxyalkylenated polysiloxane which is soluble in the said freezing-point-depressing liquid alcohol, and d) from 0.001 to 0.01% by weight of a polyacrylic acid and/or its alkali metal, ammonium or amine salts. This antifreeze/coolant composition can be used in cooling systems, for example the cooling systems of motor vehicle engines.
