Abstract

System provided with an engine exhaust outlet comprises an exhaust pipe 23 connected to the exhaust outlet 21 of the engine and an exhaust silencer 24 connected to a downward side of the exhaust pipe (downpipe). The exhaust pipe comprises a catalytic reactor support portion 28 made from a material capable of supporting, directly, a catalytic reactor component and at least one portion of steel pipe 29, 30 connected to at least one end of the catalytic reactor support portion. The catalytic reactor support portion is formed as a straight tube which has an inner surface on which a catalysing layer 28a is formed and the steel pipe portion is curved for connection at one end with the exhaust outlet of the engine or connected to another end of the catalytic reactor support portion and it has a curved portion for the connection of the exhaust silencer, or two portions of steel pipe 29, 30 for connection to both ends of the catalytic reactor support portion and they have curved portions for the connection to the exhaust outlet of the engine and the exhaust silencer respectively. The portion of steel pipe has an expanded end 33, 34 via which an end of the catalytic reactor support portion 28 is inserted for connection between them. The catalytic reactor support portion is made from an "inexideble" material based on SUS430.
