Abstract

The automated enzymatic hydrolysis system consists of a peristaltic pump, injection unit with valve introducing precise vol. of sample into the hydrolysis system, hydrolysis unit contg. immobilised beta-D-glucuronidase enzyme which catalyses hydrolysis of glucuronide derivs., unit for synchronising changes in position of sample containers and the aspirator probe of the injection unit, collecting unit for the hydrolysates and a computer control system. The system for hydrolysis and monitoring the yields incorporates an automatic system for following the hydrolysis yield achieved in the hydrolyser, a second injection unit and a detection system.
