Abstract
The inventive process relates to the application of basic sepiolites as catalysts in the Knoevenagel condensation reaction. The sepiolites employed are obtained by modification of the natural sepiolite with alkaline or alkaline-earth ions. These catalysts have a high surface area and a high pore volume.
