Abstract

A microprocessor initialization assurance system includes a normally open, momentarily closed on-off switch, Z4, which assures that the microprocessor has completed the initialization routine. First and second charge storage means 17, 19 are responsive to the switch to place the microprocessor in a reset mode upon the closure of the switch. The ratio of capacitances of capacitors 17, 19 is such that the first capacitor is recharged before the person actuating the switch has released it. This ensures that adequate time is allowed for the microprocessor, 11, to reset. Closure of the on-off switch produces a logic low level state at the input terminal 13 of the processor which state is sensed and indicates that the TV receiver, controlled by the processor, is to be turned on or off, whichever is the opposite condition to that which currently obtains.
