Abstract

The method of refuse incineration comprises drying the refuse before passing the latter to a boiler adapted to generate high-pressure superheated steam for producing mechanical work in an expander. In the drying step, the wet refuse is heated in a dryer by a heating medium in directly contact to vaporise most of the moisture contained in the refuse to produce vapour. The vapour is recovered and confined into the heating medium. - Part of the vapour is introduced to a heater for heating up the boiler feed water. The heating medium is pref. superheated steam. The vapour so produced is pref. also at superheated state.
