Abstract

The invention relates to a seat cushion (1), the top side (2b) of which forms a seat surface and the bottom side (2a) of which forms a support surface for resting on a base. A recess is provided which opens out at the back and the top side (2b) of the seat cushion (1). This is laterally delimited by two legs (1a, 1b) of the seat cushion (1). The height of the seat cushion (1) increases continuously from its front edge to its rear edge.

Description

The invention relates to a seat cushion.

Such seat cushions are typically placed on the seats of seating furniture to increase seating comfort.

Typically, such seat cushions are used as cushions for chairs. The seat cushion has a shape adapted to the seat of the chair in such a way that the seat cushion covers the entire seat. The seat cushion has a constant height over its entire surface so that the seat cushion achieves uniform padding.

Such seat cushions are used in particular for chairs that have relatively hard seats. The seat cushion then provides padding, i.e. a soft seat cover that increases seating comfort.

Such seat cushions can also be used as additional cushions on all seats to generate better seating comfort.

Typical examples of applications are chairs made of plastic, metallic materials and the like, whereby the seats are also made of these materials and are correspondingly hard.

The invention is based on the object of providing a seat cushion with extended functionality.

To solve this problem, the features of claim 1 are provided. Advantageous embodiments and expedient developments of the invention are described in the dependent claims.

The invention relates to a seat cushion, the top of which forms a seat surface and the bottom of which forms a support surface for resting on a base. There is a recess that opens out at the back and top of the seat cushion. This is laterally limited by two legs of the seat cushion. The height of the seat cushion increases continuously from its front edge to its rear edge.

The geometric details of the front, back, top and bottom of the seat cushion are based on the use of the seat cushion by a person. A person sits on the top of the seat cushion with their legs extending over the front of the seat cushion.

The seat cushion according to the invention is generally placed on a base which is specifically designed as a piece of seating furniture, wherein the seating furniture is particularly advantageously formed by a chair.

The seat cushion according to the invention is then placed on the seat surface of the seating furniture, which forms the base, in such a way that the front edge of the seat cushion lies on the front edge of the seat surface of the seating furniture.

The seat cushion according to the invention has a recess opening out at the back and top, which is laterally delimited by two legs of the seat cushion. In addition, the seat cushion is designed in such a way that its height increases continuously from the front edge to the rear edge.

This combination of features creates a health-promoting and therapeutic effect for the person using the seat cushion.

When used as intended, the seat cushion rests on the seat of a piece of seating furniture, in particular a chair, stool or the like, in such a way that the front edge of the seat cushion lies on the front edge of the seat.

The coccyx area of a person sitting on the seat cushion is then exposed in the area of the recess, with the person sitting with their buttocks on the thighs of the seat cushion. As the height of the seat cushion decreases towards the front edge, the person's thighs are tilted downwards.

Because the tailbone area is exposed when sitting on the seat cushion, it is not put under strain.

Nerves in this area, especially those in the rectum and coccyx area, are significantly less enervated and irritated when sitting. The irritation of the innervated periosteum of the coccyx and sacrum is also reduced.

As the height of the seat cushion decreases towards the front edge of the seat cushion, the thighs of the person sitting on the seat cushion are inclined downwards towards the front edge of the seat cushion, which causes the person to tip slightly forwards, which further relieves the person's coccyx area. The pressure on the thighs when sitting decreases.

As a result, the pressure on neural structures for the person sitting on the seat cushion is significantly reduced, which significantly reduces the risk of nerve irritation and neurogenic inflammation.

Such irritation of the nervous system can lead to tension in the back muscles and the diaphragm, as well as to a deterioration in the blood circulation of the entire tissue due to persistent contractions during Sitting. The resulting pain encourages avoidance behavior.

Such negative effects are completely or at least largely avoided by using the seat cushion according to the invention. Surprisingly, it has been shown that when using the seat cushion according to the invention, these health-promoting effects occur regardless of whether the person is sitting upright or not.

By avoiding irritation with the help of the seat cushion and the resulting reduction in inflammation of the sympathetic nervous system, health-promoting secondary effects also occur, such as reduced visual disturbances or concentration problems, lowering stress levels, avoiding depression and the like. This is based on the fact that the sympathetic nerve pathways in the rectum or coccyx area interact directly with nerve pathways in the back, neck and head area, so that irritation of nerve pathways in the coccyx or coccyx area has a direct effect on these other nerve pathways.

According to an advantageous embodiment, the recess extends over its entire height.

This means that the legs of the seat cushion are separated in the middle by the recess.

In this case, the legs are advantageously designed identically, and further advantageously the seat cushion forms a mirror-symmetrical arrangement with respect to a plane of symmetry running in the longitudinal direction of the seat cushion.

This ensures that the person sits evenly on both thighs on both sides of the recess.

In accordance with a structural and ergonomically favorable design, it is U-shaped.

The seat cushion has a U-shaped outer contour. The edge contour of the recess is U-shaped.

According to a geometrically advantageous embodiment, this has a flat support surface, wherein the upper side of the seat cushion is inclined to the support surface.

The support surface allows the seat cushion to be placed on the seat of a piece of seating furniture, in particular a chair or stool, which typically runs at least approximately in one plane. This means that the seat cushion lies flat on the seat of the piece of seating furniture and is securely held in place. The upper side, which is inclined to the support surface, gives the seat cushion a wedge shape such that its height decreases continuously, preferably linearly, from the rear to the front edge.

According to an advantageous dimensioning of the seat cushion, its height is in the single-digit cm range.

The surface of the seat cushion is advantageously adapted to the size of the seat of a piece of seating furniture, in particular a chair or stool.

A further advantage is that its height in the area of the rear edge is 30 - 60%, in particular 40 - 50% greater than its height at the front edge.

This means that the inclination of the top of the seat cushion is optimized with regard to the health-promoting, therapeutic effect to be achieved.

According to a structurally advantageous embodiment, this has a cushion body made of foam, which is covered with a cover.

The cover can, for example, be made of leather or a textile material, in particular a fabric.

The cushion body can consist of a homogeneous foam body with a uniform hardness.

Particularly advantageously, the pillow body consists of several layers arranged one above the other, with the hardness of the layers decreasing from bottom to top.

In the simplest case, the pillow body has two layers on top of each other.

The bottom layer is advantageously wedge-shaped. The bottom layer has the greatest hardness. This ensures that the wedge shape of the seat cushion is maintained even when a person sits on it. The upper layers, which advantageously have a constant layer thickness, serve primarily as flexible cushioning layers.

According to an advantageous development of the invention, the seat cushion is attached to a seat of a chair or stool using fastening means such as screws, so that the seat cushion is firmly connected to the chair or stool and forms a structural unit with it. Advantageous applications are stools that are used in doctor's offices, in particular dentist's offices. Such a stool can in particular be designed to be height-adjustable. The angle of inclination of its seat can also be adjusted.

According to an advantageous variant of the invention, a demonstration doll in the shape of a human body is provided, on the surface of which the course of nerve pathways of the human sympathetic nervous system is shown. The demonstration doll serves in particular to visualize the therapeutic functioning of the seat cushion.

The advantage of this demonstration doll is that it is life-sized.

Of course, the demonstration doll can also be made in different sizes.

The courses of sympathetic nerve pathways are visualized on this demonstration doll, preferably by printing or applying other colors. This visualizes the human nerve structure, which in particular visualizes the networks and interactions of nerve pathways.

This demonstration doll can be used to explain in particular the functioning of the seat cushion according to the invention, i.e. its influence on the human nervous system.

According to an advantageous further development of the demonstration doll, adhesive pads are provided on its surface to which information carriers can be fixed.

By labeling the information carriers, nerve pathways can be identified and explained.

The Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the seat cushion 1 according to the invention.

The seat cushion 1 is used in particular to rest on a piece of seating furniture, such as a chair or stool. To do this, the seat cushion 1 is placed on a seat of the seating furniture with its flat underside 2a forming a support surface. The surface of the seat cushion is adapted to the size of the seat.

In the present case, the seat cushion 1 is U-shaped. In general, the seat cushion 1 has a recess 3 which opens out at the back (relative to the sitting position of a person on the seat cushion 1) of the seat cushion 1.

This recess 3 always ends at the top 2b of the seat cushion 1. In the present case, the recess 3 extends over the entire height of the seat cushion 1. The recess 3 is laterally delimited by two identically designed legs 1a, 1b of the seat cushion 1. The seat cushion 1, and thus its legs 1a, 1b and the recess 3 are mirror-symmetrical to a plane of symmetry S running in the longitudinal direction of the seat cushion 1.

The seat cushion 1 has a foam cushion body 4 (shown in Figure 3 ) which is covered with a covering 5 which consists, for example, of leather or a textile material.

According to the invention, the height of the seat cushion 1 increases continuously from its front end to its rear end.

This is achieved by a wedge shape of the cushion body 4, as in Figure 3 shown. Figure 3 shows a sectional view of the cushion body 4 along the Figure 2 plane marked A.

The underside 4a of the cushion body 4, which lies on the underside 2a of the seat cushion 1 or forms this, runs in a plane which is Figure 3 is horizontal.

The top side 4b of the cushion body 4 runs in a plane inclined to the bottom side 4a, which forms the wedge shape of the seat cushion 1. It is advantageous if its height in the area of the rear edge is 30 - 60%, in particular 40 - 50% greater than its height at the front edge.

In the present case, the height H ₁ is approximately 5.5 mm and the height H ₂ is approximately 8 cm.

Advantageously, the cushion body 4 consists of several layers arranged one above the other, wherein the hardness of the layers decreases from bottom to top.

In the present case, the seat cushion 1 has two layers 6a, 6b lying one above the other, each of which extends over the entire surface of the seat cushion 1.

The lower layer 6a consists of a harder foam than the upper layer 6b.

The lower layer 6a is wedge-shaped. The layer thickness varies from a minimum sealing thickness D ₁ at the front edge of the seat cushion 1 to a maximum layer thickness D ₂ at the rear edge. In the present case, the minimum layer thickness D ₁ is about 2.5 cm and the maximum layer thickness is about 5 cm.

The layer thickness of the upper layer 6b is constant and amounts to about 3 cm.

The combination of the recess 3 in the seat cushion 1 and the decreasing height from the rear edge to the front edge of the seat cushion 1 achieves a health-promoting, therapeutic effect.

The recess 3 relieves the coccyx area of a person sitting on the seat cushion 1. This effect is enhanced by the height of the seat cushion 1 decreasing from the rear to the front edge.

This largely prevents irritation and inflammation of nerves in the rectum and coccyx area.

Figure 4 shows an example of a life-size demonstration doll 7, which has the shape of a human body. The courses of sympathetic nerve tracts 8 are realistically represented on the surface, in particular by applying color or printing.

Different nerve pathways 8 can be represented with different colors.

Furthermore, adhesive pads 9 are fixed to the surface of the demonstration doll 7. Information carriers not shown, such as small boards, can be attached to these adhesive pads 9. The boards have labels that, for example, identify the nerve pathways 8 or explain their function in the human body.

The demonstration doll 7 can be used in particular to explain the health-promoting, therapeutic effect of the seat cushion 1 according to the invention.
