- the toilet A is rigidly connected to the supporting plane L to which all the stresses produced by a person sitting on the seating surface G of the toilet A are transmitted.
- the supporting plane L is therefore subject to move and this causes the displacement of the toilet A and therefore of the pipes that connect it to the water network and the sewer network, and this entails the joints to be loosened and consequent leaks that require maintenance interventions.
- Patent documents US 2018/238038 and US 2018/008106 are also known, which have the same limitations for mounting, dismounting and the maintenance of the toilet described in the previously examined patent document WO2019186302 .

- the mounting of the sanitary module of the invention is simpler than the mounting of the mentioned module of the prior art.
- the operator after having arranged the frame 9 in the predestined assembly site and by operating from the outside and above it, by means of fixing means 14 , consisting for example of screws, fixes to the frame 9 , in the following order, the flat ring 20 with the shaped counter ring 21 and above it the intermediate annular support 19.
- the tubular body 12 of the annular seating ring 8 is radially spaced from the annular appendage 21a of the shaped counter ring 21 and therefore the annular seating ring 8 does not transmit any stress to the collector body 4 and hence to the pipes, preserving the integrity of the gaskets and the occurrence of incipient leaks.
- the fitter completes the mounting by interposing the sealing gasket 18 between the external perimeter edge 13c of the seating ring 13 and the internal perimeter edge 11a which delimits the through opening 11 present in the covering plane 10.
- the covering plane 10 is therefore not subjected to any stress since all possible stresses are discharged onto the frame 9 which rests on the ground and is structured to absorb the stresses, it being made of metal profiles having high stability and mechanical strength.
- the covering plane 10 can be made of any material, preferably of stainless steel.
- the covering plane 10 there may be through openings, indicated as a whole with 50 and visible in figures 4 and 5 , for access to containers located below the covering plane 10 or valve operating members, not represented and not described, which regulate the flow of the washing water to the collector body 4 and/or to the spraying nozzles 30.

Description
- The present invention relates to a sanitary module comprising a sanitary bowl and a containment structure in which the aforesaid sanitary bowl is accommodated, according to the preamble of
claim 1. - Various types of sanitary modules are available on the market including sanitary devices of various types, for example washbasins, shower apparatuses and others, which can be combined and interconnected to create complete furnishings for bathrooms, usually of particular value.
- With regard to the sanitary device that is defined by the term "sanitary bowl", it is meant a sanitary device that comprises a collector bowl, preferably made of ceramic, but also of other materials such as fiberglass or steel, which serves to collect the excreta of human physiological functions and to convey them to a drain pipe.
- Two embodiments of sanitary bowls are essentially known, and in particular the so-called "Turkish" sanitary bowls, which have a shape suitable for embedding them in the floor, and sanitary bowls of the "toilet" type, which have a shape suitable for arranging them protruding from the floor or from a wall.
- The sanitary bowls of the "toilet" type are installed so that the upper opening is positioned at an adequate height to allow the person using them an easy sitting, while the lower opening is connected by means of a siphon to a drain pipe communicating with the sewer system.
- The upper opening is delimited perimetrically by an annular collector, called "rim", which is internally crossed by an annular channel connected to a washing arrangement from which it receives the water for flushing the sanitary bowl.
- Along the perimeter development of the rim there are a plurality of annular slits which communicate with the annular channel and convey the washing water onto the internal lateral surface of the sanitary bowl.
- Sanitary bowls of the "toilet" type which are manufactured in sheet metal, preferably but not necessarily in stainless steel sheet, are also known which are preferred to sanitary bowls made of ceramic due to their lower weight, to their greater manageability, to their greater impact resistance and also to their greater ease of installation.
- For the reasons explained above, toilets manufactured of sheet metal are preferably installed in the sanitary modules.
- A toilet of the type mentioned above is described in the patent document
WO2019186302 registered in the name of the owner of the present patent application and is represented infigures 1 to 3 where it is indicated as a whole with A. - It can be observed that it comprises a collector body B with a truncated-conical shape in which, peripherally to the upper opening C, there is an annular collector D in which the annular channel E for conveying the washing water along the internal walls of the collector body B is obtained.
- The annular collector D comprises an upper ring F externally to which the seating surface G and a lower ring H which is peripherally fixed to the outside of the collector body B and on which screw means I fix the upper ring F, are obtained.
- The toilet A is integrated into a containment structure adapted to realise a sanitary module, which structure is partially represented in
figures 2 and 3 and comprises a frame resting on the ground, not represented, which supports a supporting plane L in which there is a through opening M at which the upper ring F for access to the toilet A is fixed. - For the installation of the toilet A in the containment structure, all the operations are carried out by the fitter operating below the supporting plane L after the toilet has been applied to the frame.
- In detail, the fitter, using screw means P or other equivalent fixing means, first fixes the upper ring F to the lower surface of the supporting plane L at the through opening M, as can be observed in
figure 3 , and then, by means of the aforementioned screw means I, he fixes the lower ring H to the upper ring F. When mounting is completed, the toilet A is thus fixed below the supporting plane L as can be observed infigure 3 . - The module thus composed and in general the sanitary modules of the type described which define the prior art have some recognized drawbacks and limitations.
- A first limitation concerns the fact that the configuration of the elements that compose the toilet A imposes that the mounting operations be carried out by operating below the supporting plane L, and therefore under operating conditions that are ergonomically uncomfortable for the operator.
- The same limitation also occurs in the case of having to carry out maintenance or repair operations which, in a similar way to the mounting operations, must be carried out by operating below the supporting plane L.
- Furthermore, when mounting is completed, the toilet A is rigidly connected to the supporting plane L to which all the stresses produced by a person sitting on the seating surface G of the toilet A are transmitted.
- The supporting plane L is therefore subject to move and this causes the displacement of the toilet A and therefore of the pipes that connect it to the water network and the sewer network, and this entails the joints to be loosened and consequent leaks that require maintenance interventions.
- Patent documents
US 2018/238038 andUS 2018/008106 are also known, which have the same limitations for mounting, dismounting and the maintenance of the toilet described in the previously examined patent documentWO2019186302 . - The present invention intends to overcome the listed drawbacks.
- In particular, it is a first object of the invention to realise a sanitary module that comprises a sanitary bowl of the "toilet" type and a containment structure adapted to accommodate it, in which mounting/dismounting the toilet in/from the respective containment structure is performed by operating mainly from the outside and above the same structure.
- Last but not least object is that the sanitary module of the invention has a greater structural stability with respect to sanitary modules equivalent to it.
- The listed purposes are achieved by the sanitary module of the invention whose characteristics are described in the main claim to which reference will be made.
- Other characteristics are described in the dependent claims.
- Advantageously, as will be better described below, the operations of mounting/dismounting the toilet are facilitated since they are performed by operating from the outside and above the containment structure.
- Still advantageously, the execution of any maintenance and repair operations is also facilitated.
- Moreover, advantageously, the greater structural stability of the module of the invention, with respect to equivalent sanitary modules of the art, reduces the possibility of occurrence of leaks caused by loosening, wear or breakage of the gaskets.
- The purposes and advantages listed above and any other possible ones will be better highlighted below during the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the invention which is given by way of non-limiting indication with reference to the attached drawing tables in which:
-
figs. 1 to 3 represent different views of a sanitary module of the prior art; -
fig. 4 represents an axonometric view of the sanitary module of the invention; -
fig. 5 represents the exploded view offig. 4 ; -
fig. 6 represents a partially exploded longitudinal section offig. 4 ; -
fig. 7 represents a partial and exploded axonometric view offig. 4 ; -
fig. 8 represents a partial and exploded axonometric cross section offig. 4 ; -
fig. 9 represents the view of the section offig. 8 ; -
fig. 10 represents a detail offig. 9 ; -
figs. 11 and 12 represent two different details offig. 10 . - The sanitary module subject-matter of the invention is represented in the overall view of
figure 4 where it is indicated as a whole with 1 and where it can be observed that it comprises a sanitary bowl indicated as a whole with 2 which is accommodated in a containment structure indicated as a whole with 3. With particular reference to the exploded view offigure 5 , to the further views offigures 6 to 10 and to the detail views offigures 11 and 12 , it can be observed that thesanitary bowl 2 is of the "toilet" type and comprises acollector body 4 for the collection of human droppings, which identifies an essentially vertical longitudinal direction Y and which has anupper mouth 5 for access to thecollector body 4 and alower mouth 6 configured to be connected, through adrain pipe 6a, to a sewer network. - Perimetrically to the
upper mouth 5 and externally thereto there is anannular collector 7, visible in the composed form particularly infigures 6 and9 to 12 , in which anannular channel 22 configured to convey washing water coming fromsupply pipes 25 connected to a water network onto theinternal surface 4a of thecollector body 4 is defined. - There is also an
annular seating ring 8 which is configured so as to allow the person using the toilet to sit comfortably and is arranged in a substantially coaxial position and above theannular collector 7 and theupper mouth 5 of thecollector body 4. - As regards the
containment structure 3 which accommodates thesanitary bowl 2, it comprises aframe 9 which supports thecollector body 4 and acovering plane 10 which is fixed to theframe 9 and is positioned above and spaced from theannular collector 7. - In particular, in the covering
plane 10 there is a through opening 11 which is arranged at and above theupper mouth 5 of thecollector body 4 when thecollector body 4 is fixed to theframe 9. - According to the invention, the
annular seating ring 8 comprises atubular body 12 which is inserted in the through opening 11 of thecovering plane 10 and in theupper mouth 5 of thecollector body 4 and protrudes for astretch 12a of its length inside thecollector body 4 where it is spaced from theinternal surface 4a of thesame collector body 4 and from theinternal surface 7a of theannular collector 7 according to a direction incident the longitudinal direction Y identified by thecollector body 4. - The
annular seating ring 8 also comprises aseating ring 13 which is connected externally to thetubular body 12, protrudes towards the outside of the sametubular body 12, is arranged outside thecollector body 4 and is superimposed on an intermediateannular support 19 which is interposed between theannular collector 7 and thecovering plane 10 and is arranged so as to rest above theannular collector 7. - Preferably, but not necessarily, the
annular seating ring 8 is obtained by plastic deformation of a metallic sheet so that thetubular body 12 and theseating ring 13 constitute a monobloc body. - In another embodiment, the
tubular body 12 and theseating ring 13 may consist of distinct elements which are joined together by means of connection means of various kind. - In the intermediate
annular support 19 there areshaped housings 19a which accommodate sprayingnozzles 30 that are associated with theannular seating ring 8 externally to itstubular body 12 and which, throughslits 31 made in thetubular body 12, allow water to be sprayed towards the inside of thecollector body 4 for washing the intimate parts of the person sitting on the toilet. Therefore, when theannular seating ring 8 is fixed above the intermediateannular support 19, the sprayingnozzles 30 are accommodated in theshaped housings 19a. - Furthermore, the intermediate
annular support 19 is crossed bypipes 32 which supply thespraying nozzles 30 and which receive the washing water from the water network to which they are connected by means of collector means 33. - The intermediate
annular support 19 therefore performs the functions of housing the sprayingnozzles 30 and thepipes 32 and of discharging the weight of the person sitting on theannular seating ring 8 onto theframe 9. - In particular, the
seating ring 13 of theannular seating ring 8 is shaped so as to define externally anannular seating surface 13a having a truncated-conical shape whosegeneratrices 13b are convergent towards the longitudinal axis Y identified by thecollector body 4, and thus towards the inside of thesame collector body 4, as can be observed in particular infigure 10 . - Furthermore, when the
seating ring 13 is fixed to the intermediateannular support 19, theexternal perimeter edge 13c of theseating ring 13 is arranged adjacent to theinternal perimeter edge 11a which delimits the through opening 11 present in thecovering plane 10. - Preferably, a sealing gasket is interposed between the aforesaid edges.
- As regards the
annular collector 7, it comprises: - a
flat ring 20 which develops perimetrically at theupper mouth 5 and outside of thecollector body 4; - a
shaped edge 20a which perimetrically joins theflat ring 20 to the perimeter edge of theupper mouth 5; - a
shaped counter ring 21 which is placed above theflat ring 20 and which has anannular appendage 21a protruding towards the inside of thecollector body 4, - It can be observed that between the
annular appendage 21a and theshaped edge 20a anannular slit 23 is defined which puts theannular channel 22 in communication with the inside of thecollector body 4. - Furthermore, the
annular appendage 21a is comprised between theshaped edge 20a and thestretch 12a of thetubular body 12 which protrudes inside thecollector body 4 and is spaced from both along the direction incident the longitudinal direction Y identified by thecollector body 4. - It can also be observed that the
end 21b of theannular appendage 21a and theend 12b of thestretch 12a of thetubular body 12 which protrudes inside thecollector body 4 are aligned with each other according to the direction incident the longitudinal direction Y identified by thecollector body 4. - Furthermore, in the
flat ring 20 there is at least one through opening 24 which puts theannular channel 22 in communication with apipe 25 connected to a water supply network for washing thecollector body 4. - According to the preferred embodiment described and illustrated in the figures, the
flat ring 20, the shapededge 20a and thecollector body 4 constitute a single monobloc body and are obtained by plastic deformation of a flat sheet metal, and furthermore the shapedcounter ring 21 and theflat ring 20 are connected to each other by at least oneperimeter welding 26. - In another embodiment, the
flat ring 20, the shapededge 20a and thecollector body 4 can be elements that are separated one another and connected by welding or other connection means. - Operationally, the mounting of the sanitary module of the invention is simpler than the mounting of the mentioned module of the prior art.
- The operator, after having arranged the
frame 9 in the predestined assembly site and by operating from the outside and above it, by means of fixing means 14, consisting for example of screws, fixes to theframe 9, in the following order, theflat ring 20 with the shapedcounter ring 21 and above it the intermediateannular support 19. - He then fixes the covering
plane 10 to theframe 9 and through the throughopening 11 he inserts theannular seating ring 8 which is fixed to the intermediateannular support 19. - The
tubular body 12 of theannular seating ring 8, as already mentioned, is radially spaced from theannular appendage 21a of the shapedcounter ring 21 and therefore theannular seating ring 8 does not transmit any stress to thecollector body 4 and hence to the pipes, preserving the integrity of the gaskets and the occurrence of incipient leaks. - The fitter completes the mounting by interposing the sealing gasket 18 between the
external perimeter edge 13c of theseating ring 13 and theinternal perimeter edge 11a which delimits the throughopening 11 present in the coveringplane 10. - Once mounting is completed, all the stresses to which the module is subjected during use, in particular due to the person sitting onto the
annular seating ring 8, are discharged by the intermediateannular support 19 onto theannular collector 7 and in particular onto the shapedcounter ring 21 and onto theflat ring 20 fixed to theframe 9. - The covering
plane 10, contrary to the prior art, is therefore not subjected to any stress since all possible stresses are discharged onto theframe 9 which rests on the ground and is structured to absorb the stresses, it being made of metal profiles having high stability and mechanical strength. - All the operations described, unlike the prior art, are performed from the outside and therefore in an ergonomically comfortable position for the operator, obviously excluding the connections of the pipes to the water network and to the sewer network which are necessarily carried out below the covering
plane 10. - Obviously, this greater mounting simplicity also entails greater ease of intervention in the case of maintenance or replacements.
- As far as the covering
plane 10 is concerned, it can be made of any material, preferably of stainless steel. - In addition, in the covering
plane 10 there may be through openings, indicated as a whole with 50 and visible infigures 4 and5 , for access to containers located below the coveringplane 10 or valve operating members, not represented and not described, which regulate the flow of the washing water to thecollector body 4 and/or to the sprayingnozzles 30. - From what has been described, it can be understood that the sanitary module of the invention achieves all the intended purposes.
- In the executive phase, modifications not described and not represented in the drawings may be made to the module of the invention which, should they fall within the scope of the attached claims, must certainly be considered protected by this patent.
