Abstract

The invention relates to a vehicle bonnet advertising device. The advertising device (1) according to the invention is formed of elastic textile of a substantially quadrangular shape, which is printable, wherein a pocket (3) for receiving a distal portion of the vehicle bonnet is formed at a first end (2) of the advertising device along the entire width (w) of the advertising device, the pocket (3) extending to at least one third of the length (1) of the advertising device, and wherein cut-outs (5) are formed at the corners of a second end (4) of the advertising device opposite the first end (2) of the advertising device for receiving the corners of the proximal portion of the vehicle bonnet. The advertising device (1) according to the invention is easy to manufacture, quickly mounted on the vehicle bonnet and removed from it, and is safe to use during a ride of the vehicle.

Description

    Field of Invention
  • The invention relates to a vehicle bonnet advertising device.
  • Prior art
  • With its large surface area, exposure and visibility, a vehicle bonnet may be an ideal place to advertise products and companies or to display club emblems, inscriptions, coats of arms, etc. The need for advertising on the vehicle bonnet at fairs, sports competitions, various events, etc. has provided various solutions in the past.
  • Document KR20100003856U discloses the attachment of paper advertising displays to a vehicle bonnet by means of magnets. A disadvantage of this solution is that it is not suitable for use during a ride, as the magnetic force is not big enough to withstand windblasts during a ride.
  • Self-adhesive stickers to be applied to the vehicle bonnet are also known. Applying a sticker is time consuming. They work very well during a ride but are difficult to remove. Due to the heat from the vehicle engine, the glue sticks to the vehicle bonnet and the sticker is therefore difficult to remove. When removing the stickers, patches of glue may remain on the vehicle bonnet, the paintwork may be damaged and the vehicle bonnet must be polished.
  • Vehicle bonnet covers made of elastic textiles are also known, which are mounted on the vehicle bonnet by means of straps that connect the cover under the vehicle bonnet. Such covers may pose a risk during a ride, as they start to vibrate and flutter at rather lower speed, disturbing the driver. In the extreme case, the cover can come off during a ride and reduce the driver's field of vision, which can be very dangerous.
  • Technical problem
  • The technical problem is how to provide a vehicle bonnet advertising device that will be easy to manufacture, quickly mounted on the vehicle bonnet and removed from it, and will be safe in all respects to use during a ride of the vehicle. It is a further object of the invention to provide an advertising device which will adapt to different sizes and shapes of vehicle bonnets.
  • Solution to the technical problem
  • The relative expressions such as distal, proximal, upper, lower, etc. are defined with respect to the motor vehicle driver when the advertising device is in the position of use.
  • The technical problem is solved by a vehicle bonnet advertising device formed of elastic textile of a substantially quadrangular shape, which is printed or printable, wherein a pocket for receiving a distal portion of the vehicle bonnet is formed at a first end of the advertising device along the entire width of the advertising device, the pocket extending to at least one third of the length of the advertising device, and wherein cut-outs are formed at the corners of a second end of the advertising device opposite the first end of the advertising device for receiving the corners of the proximal portion of the vehicle bonnet.
  • When the user wants to use the advertising device, he lifts the vehicle bonnet and attaches the device to the vehicle bonnet so that the pocket is on the underside of the vehicle bonnet, then the cut-outs are hooked at the second end of the advertising device over the corners of the proximal portion of the vehicle bonnet and the vehicle bonnet is closed. Due to the elasticity of the textile, the advertising device adapts to the shape and size of the vehicle bonnet. Understandably, this flexibility is limited. Vehicle bonnets which are very different in shape and/or dimensions, require different dimensions of the advertising device. The pocket encloses the vehicle bonnet from the front of the vehicle and at the sides. Preferably, the pocket extends to at least half of the length of the advertising device, more preferably up to two thirds of the length of the advertising device, thus preventing air from entering between the advertising device and the vehicle bonnet while the advertising device is in use during a ride, which prevents the advertising device from vibrating and fluttering and getting detached during a ride. Tests have shown that driving with the advertising device on the vehicle bonnet is perfectly safe even at a vehicle speed of 130 km/h.
  • The advantage of the advertising device according to the invention lies in its simple construction and cost-effective manufacturing. The advertising device is easily and quickly installed on the vehicle bonnet and also removed from it. The advertising device is safe in all respects for use during a ride of the vehicle.

  • The invention is described in more detail in the following.
  • The technical problem is solved by a vehicle bonnet advertising device 1 formed of elastic textile of a substantially quadrangular shape, which is printed or printable, wherein a pocket 3 for receiving a distal portion of the vehicle bonnet is formed at a first end 2 of the advertising device along the entire width w of the advertising device, the pocket 3 extending to at least one third of the length 1 of the advertising device, and wherein cut-outs 5 are formed at the corners of a second end 4 of the advertising device opposite the first end 2 of the advertising device for receiving the corners of the proximal portion of the vehicle bonnet.
  • Preferably, the pocket 3 extends to at least half the length 1 of the advertising device, particularly preferably to at least two thirds of the length 1 of the advertising device.
  • As the elastic textile from which the advertising device is formed, e.g. jersey composed of 90% polyester and 10% elastane can be used. The advantage of this material is that it is washable, which allows the advertising device to be washed in a washing machine if necessary. This material has good dimensional stability in sublimation printing, as it shrinks by only 1% in both directions.
  • Preferably, a front edge 6 of the advertising device at its first end 2 is formed circularly convex, thus achieving a better fit of the advertising device to the vehicle bonnet when in the position of use.
  • According to a preferred embodiment, the cut-outs are hemmed by means of an elastic thread. A hemmed edge is more resistant to mechanical damage, thus preventing the material of the advertising device from tearing during use. It is further preferred that all peripheral edges 1a of the material of the advertising device are hemmed by means of an elastic thread.
  • According to a further preferred embodiment, at least the central part of a rear edge 7 at the second end 4 of the advertising device is formed circularly concave, thus preventing the return air flow from the windscreen from entering between the advertising device and the vehicle bonnet when the advertising device is in use during a ride, which would cause the material of the second end 4 of the advertising device to vibrate and flutter.
