Durch diesen Laserstrahl 38 lassen sich dreidimensionale Strukturen und/oder Konturen in den Seitenrand 33, 34, 35 des buchartigen Dokumentes 11 einbringen. Vorzugsweise sind diese Strukturen oder Konturen durch eine Spur gebildet, welche durch die Energie des Laserstrahls 38 erzeugt wird. In Abhängigkeit der Energie des Laserstrahls 38 kann die Tiefe dieser Spur beeinflusst werden. In Abhängigkeit einer Fokussierung des Laserstrahls 38 kann auch die Breite einer solchen Spur bestimmt werden. Eine Kombination hiervon ist möglich.
