- Escalator having a plurality of movable step segments (1) which, lined up in a row, each run on four wheels (2a, 2b) which are mounted at the four corners of each step segment (1), wherein the tread (3) of each step segment (1) is horizontal during transport towards the front and drops obliquely during reverse transport towards the rear, characterized- in that each step segment (1) is formed by a rectangular step plate of constant height, at the four corners of which a wheel (2a, 2b) is respectively mounted,- in that in the transport area (C) on the front side of the escalator, the front two wheels (2a) of each step segment (1) are transported by two circulating transport chains (4),- in that the rear two wheels (2b) of each step segment (1) run on two inclined first tracks (5) without being fixed to transport chains, and- in that in the reverse transport area (D) on the rear side, with the tread (3) lying at an angle, the step segments (1) are transported back by the two circulating transport chains (4) on two inclined, rear, second tracks (6).
- Escalator according to Claim 1, characterized in that in the lower and upper end region (A, B), the step segments are transported horizontally in the horizontal position on horizontal tracks in the front and in the rear transport area (C, D).
- Escalator according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the two transport chains (4) have rollers (7) as chain links, the diameter of which is equal to the diameters of the wheels (2a, 2b) of the step segments (1).
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the axes of the wheels (2a, 2b) of each step segment (1) are arranged underneath the tread (3).
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the transport chains (4) and tracks (5, 6) are arranged in side stringers (8) of the escalator.
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in the lower and upper end region (A, B) of the escalator, the transport chains (4) are deflected by sprockets (9, 10).
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in the upper and lower end region (A, B) of the escalator, the step segments (1) are guided horizontally and, here, their treads (3) form a horizontal entry and exit surface (A, B).
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rear end (15) of each step segment (1) is bevelled at an angle (α) which is equal to the angle of inclination of the escalator.
- Escalator according to one of Claims 5 to 8, characterized in that the two side stringers (8) of the escalator are connected to each other by U-shaped supports which, at the same time, are ends of the under-tread regions.
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that two additional sprockets (16), by means of which the rear wheels (2b) of the step segments (1) are deflected, are mounted in the lower end region (A).
- Escalator according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in the lower and/or uppermost gap (under-tread area) between the step segments (1), there are movably guided sliders (20) which cover the rear region of the gap as the height of the gap decreases.
