Description

The invention relates to a knitted part, on the outside of which one or more differently light and dark areas, which merge seamlessly into one another, are formed, and which has a basic knit consisting of at least one basic knit thread.

Such a knitted part is made, for example, from US1654064 This knitted part is designed as a women's stocking. It has darker areas in the front and back areas, i.e. in the areas along the shin and the front of the thigh as well as in the area of the calf and the back of the thigh, i.e. areas that are darker than the color of the adjacent area on the side, with the light and dark areas merging seamlessly into one another. This makes the wearer's leg appear slimmer, i.e. this shading or "contouring" creates an optical effect such that the leg appears narrower or slimmer than it actually is. The optical effect is relatively small with this knitted part or stocking known from the state of the art, it is based solely on the coloring or shading of the outside of the knitted part.

In addition, FR 2 876 880 A3 , JP 2 928762 B2 and GB 2 532 240 A , the latter disclosing the features of the preamble of independent claim 1, further knitted items in the form of stockings or tights are known which have lighter and darker areas that merge into one another, with the aim of making the wearer's leg appear slimmer.

The invention is therefore based on the problem of specifying a knitted part which is improved compared to the above.

To solve this problem, according to the invention, a knitted part is provided on the outside of which one or more differently light and dark areas, which merge seamlessly into one another, are formed, and which has a base knit consisting of at least one base knit thread, wherein the base knit is designed as a compression knit into which at least one elastic weft or support thread is inserted or knitted, and as a thin, transparent, translucent knit in a wearing position.

The knitted part according to the invention achieves a slimmer view of the body part where the Knitted part is worn, which means that the real or optical effect is significantly improved compared to previously known knitted parts. According to the invention, the knitted part is designed as a compression knitted part, consisting of a basic knit made of at least one, possibly also several basic knit threads, whereby in a further development of the invention at least one elastic, compressive weft or support thread that runs through the basic knit stitches or is possibly also meshed with it can be inserted or knitted into the basic knit. This means that the knitted part has a compressive property from the outset, as defined, for example, in the quality assurance regulation "Medical compression stockings" RAL-GZ 387/1 of the Quality Mark Association for Medical Compression Stockings e. V. or in DIN 58133 relating to medical compression stockings, in particular when an elastic weft or support thread is inserted. These regulations relating to medical compression stockings define certain compression pressures for the compression stockings that are applied to the leg, or different compression classes that are based on different compression pressure intervals and the like. Basically, a compression knit is characterized by the fact that a considerably high pressure is applied locally or globally to the surrounding tissue via the compression knit. This pressure is much higher than the pressure exerted by a normal, possibly elastic, item of clothing. This high pressure can be generated, if not already via the base knit itself, by the optional introduction of at least one elastic, compressive thread, e.g. in the form of a weft or support thread, which thread is inserted into the base knit and/or knitted into it to form a loop.

With such a compression knit, a corresponding local or global pressure is exerted on the underlying tissue or body area as a result of the high pressure, for example for therapeutic purposes. However, this high pressure also involves a appropriate shaping of the part of the body covered by the compression knit, for example the leg. This is shaped accordingly as a result of the high pressure or the pressure curve over the length of the compression area, which means that the shape changes compared to the shape of the leg without the compression knit worn. According to the invention, this first effect of the pressure-induced leg shaping is now superimposed with a second effect of the optically induced leg shaping, in that the knitted part is shaded accordingly over light and dark areas. This means that two effects are superimposed, namely on the one hand the active geometric area shaping via the compression knit, and on the other hand the optical "area shaping" via the targeted shading.

Based on previously known stockings such as the one in US1654064 In the case of the stocking described, which is a commercially available women's stocking, the design as a compression knitted part enables significantly better leg shaping, since, as described, two effects are superimposed on one another, namely, on the one hand, the active, real shaping of the leg via the compressive properties of the compression knitted part, and on the other hand, the optical "leg shaping" through the shading or the formation of the light and dark areas that merge seamlessly into one another. It has turned out to be very surprising that the combination of these two effects enables a much more efficient and effective "area shaping" compared to the previously known, purely optical effect. At the same time, of course, the design as a compression knitted part also offers the possibility of therapeutically or medically relevant compression of the occupied body area, for example the leg, compared to previously known, "normal" shaded stockings or knitted parts, so that the knitted part according to the invention also has this effect in addition to the specific, superimposed shaping effects.

Furthermore, the invention provides that the base fabric is a thin fabric that is translucent in the wearing position. This transparent fabric has darker areas locally. This means that the base fabric consists of a quasi-transparent, translucent fabric. This makes use of the fact that the light basic view when worn, for example in the case of a stocking, is additionally determined by the wearer's skin, which is visible or shining through the transparent base fabric. On this or this light base fabric, which is knitted from one or more base fabric threads that have a base color similar to skin, for example, the darker area or areas are produced using the production variants to be described below. This means that the knitted part, for example the stocking, is naturally light and has darker areas locally. If the knitted part is not worn, it does not have to be transparent or translucent, which means that in this case the transparency only occurs when the knitted part is pulled on and stretched.

Here, too, there is a double effect, namely the color variation across the seamlessly merging sections, and the transparency of the knit and the skin shining through when worn, which results in a knit that is optically less bulky, so that it is barely visible or appears very "light". In particular, the shading is more pronounced in the darker areas, resulting in an even better optical shape.

If, as provided by the invention, both the shading over the lighter and darker areas, the execution of the basic knit as a compression knit and the execution of the basic knit or then the compression knit as a transparent, translucent knit in the wearing position are realized, then a triple effect is even achieved, since all three effects overlap advantageously. Firstly, the optical shaping over the continuously changing lighter and darker areas, then the active shaping via the compression knit and finally the additional optical shaping through the transparent, translucent execution of the compression knit. This inventive design enables excellent "shaping" of the overlapping area and delivers the best possible result. Here too, the compression knit can be made with or without weft or support threads.

As described, the light and dark areas merge seamlessly into one another. This means that, as far as is technically possible within the framework of the different production methods of the various areas, which will be discussed below, a transition should be achieved that is as stepless or edgeless as possible, so that, particularly when worn, the stretch of the knitted fabric results in an optically stepless transition. If the knitted part is not worn and therefore not stretched, it is possible that a harder, slightly stepped or angular transition will appear due to the contracted shape.

As stated, one of the key effects of "area shaping" is targeted accentuation, sometimes also called "contouring", which is achieved by varying the color on the outside of the compression knit part. This means that defined local differences in brightness are created there, which lead to an optical effect in the wearing position. Various possibilities are conceivable with regard to the formation of these differences in brightness.

According to a first alternative invention, the differences in brightness can be achieved by printing or dyeing the base fabric - be it a compression fabric, a transparent, non-compressive fabric or a transparent compression fabric. This means that a printing ink is printed onto the outside of the knitted part or base fabric using a printing process, for example a transfer printing process using paper or a direct printing process. Alternatively, it is also possible to dye the base fabric in a dye bath, which means that in this case the color penetrates the entire knitted part or base fabric. It is conceivable that the base fabric has a base color and is only locally printed or dyed. This means that the base fabric therefore has, for example, a base brightness and is only locally darker or printed or dyed lighter, with the section with the base color merging seamlessly into the lighter or darker printed or dyed area. With this alternative, the base or basic color of the basic knit is used as the outer color that remains visible.

Alternatively, it is conceivable that the base fabric is completely printed or dyed. In this case, the base fabric, whether compressive or translucent or both, is printed or dyed in both the light and dark areas, whereby the continuous shading is achieved through this complete printing or complete dyeing. In this context, it should be noted that the term "completely printed or dyed" means that the base fabric is completely printed or dyed on the outside in the area where the optical accentuation is to take place, but not in other areas where no optical accentuation is required. In the case of tights, complete printing or dyeing would take place, for example, starting from the ankle area to the end of the thigh, but not necessarily in the area of the foot part or the panties or body part. The important thing here is that the base or basic color or the basic or basic brightness of the base fabric is no longer visible on the outside after printing or dyeing.

It is conceivable that the basic knit consists of several basic knit threads that have different color absorption properties in relation to the printing or dyeing color. This means that the basic knit consists of different basic knit threads that can be dyed or printed, i.e. that absorb color. For example, the basic knit consists of three basic knit threads, two of which absorb color, but one does not. This means that even within the basic knit, color is only absorbed locally on these threads. It is now possible, for example, to knit these different threads only locally, i.e. to form corresponding zones in which, for example, only the basic knit threads that absorb color are present, and zones in which, for example, the basic knit thread that does not absorb color is also knitted in, as well as zones that for example, it only consists of a base knitted thread that does not absorb any dye. This means that the color absorption capacity and thus the local design of the colored areas can be influenced by the appropriate thread selection and the local thread combination. This is useful, for example, when the knitted part is to be dyed. This is because if areas that are to retain the basic brightness are knitted from a base knitted thread that does not absorb any dye and areas to be dyed have the additional base knitted thread(s) that do absorb dye, it is then possible to place the knitted part completely in a dye bath, with the result that the dyeing only takes place in the areas that are locally equipped for this purpose. The same applies, of course, in the case of printing; in this case too, large-scale printing can take place, although the printing ink is only absorbed in the areas that are appropriately equipped for this purpose. This means that it is possible for the base knitted thread(s) that do absorb dye to be only locally knitted into the base knitted part.

It is also possible for the number of stitches of the basic knitted thread(s) absorbing the color to decrease continuously in the continuous transition area from one area to the adjacent area. This means that, particularly in the continuous transition area, the volume of thread absorbing the color is inevitably varied by varying the number of stitches, which is useful for creating a continuous transition, since the amount of color present locally also inevitably varies by varying the volume of thread absorbing the color.

As an alternative to printing or dyeing, it is conceivable to produce the basic knitted part from several basic knitted threads, whereby the differently bright areas are formed by differently bright basic knitted threads. According to this alternative invention, the color variation is created by using different colored basic knitted threads that form the basic knitted fabric, regardless of the type. For example, the basic knitted fabric is knitted from one or more knitted threads that have a first, light color. To create the shading or the darker knitted sections, one or more additional, possibly slightly different colored basic knitted threads are locally knitted in, for example by knitting in additional partial rows or locally additional stitches and the like, in order to create the seamless transition area, but also the uniformly dark colored section. It is of course important here that these basic knitted threads that create the color shading are knitted in such a way that they can be seen or lie on the outside of the knitted part.

Here too, the number of stitches of the basic knitted threads of a different color can decrease continuously in the seamless transition area from one area to the adjacent area, i.e. the corresponding desired color gradient or seamless transition is formed by knitting by varying the number of stitches.

It is also possible to use the weft thread to create a different colored area by knitting in a correspondingly colored weft thread that is at least partially knitted into the outside of the fabric to form a stitch. This means that the weft thread also participates in the coloring.

A third alternative invention provides for the formation of a basic knitted fabric that is thermally sensitive with regard to the outer colour and the differently bright areas are produced by at least a local thermal treatment. This means that one or more basic knitted threads are used that can permanently change their colour through appropriate heating. This means that a colour change or change occurs when heated accordingly. This is initiated by the basic knitted fabric, which here too can be compressive or non-compressive, but translucently transparent or both, being knitted accordingly in the areas in which the continuous transition, but also the homogeneous darker or lighter colouring is to be produced. is heated until the corresponding transition temperature is reached. This can also be used to achieve the appropriate shading.

Here too, it is possible for the base fabric to be equipped or knitted with one or more thermally sensitive base fabric threads in addition to the base fabric thread(s) that essentially form the basic base fabric in the area where a color change is to occur. Here too, a varying number of stitches can be provided in the transition area, i.e. in the area of continuous shading, which means that the number of stitches of the thermally sensitive base fabric thread(s) varies locally in this area. This local introduction of the thermally sensitive base fabric thread(s) in turn enables global heating of the entire knitted part, since the color change only occurs in the thermally sensitive base fabric threads that are only locally present.

If the knitted part or the base fabric in an example not according to the invention is made as a compression fabric and not thin and translucent, it is possible that the base fabric is an opaque, dark fabric that has local lighter areas. Here, the opposite is the case. The base fabric is dark and opaque, which means that the skin of the wearer of the stocking, for example, does not shine through. The lighter areas used for accentuation are then printed, dyed, knitted in or thermally produced on the darker compression base fabric, as described above.

An alternative not according to the invention provides for the compression base fabric to also be made as an opaque fabric, which has lighter and darker areas compared to the base color of the compression base fabric. In this case, none of the base or basic color of the base fabric is visible on the outside, at least not in the areas used for accentuation. Rather, the darker and lighter areas or sections are actively formed by printing, dyeing, knitting, etc., as described above.

According to an expedient development of the invention, the darker areas are provided on the side sections of the tubular knitted part, in relation to the wearing position. In the case of stockings or tights, the darker areas are therefore on the sides, i.e. not at the front in the area of the shin, the kneecap and the front of the thigh, and also not at the back in the area of the calf, the back of the knee and the back of the thigh. In the case of a top or body part, the darker areas are also on the sides, i.e. they do not run over the stomach and chest or along the

back. These lateral positions have proven to be particularly useful for optical contouring, especially in conjunction with the geometric shape achieved by the high compression pressure when designed as a compression knit.

The knitted part itself can be, for example, an arm or leg stocking; a design as tights is also conceivable, as is the design as a top, for example in the form of a compressive T-shirt or similar, or a simple body part that only covers the area of the torso, for example up to below the chest.

If the knitted part is designed as a leg stocking or as tights, the darker areas preferably extend from the calf to over the thigh.

When the knitted part is designed as a leg stocking or tights, it is also useful if the compression knit of the knitted part has a graduated pressure profile, with the highest pressure being in the ankle area. The pressure is therefore relatively high in the ankle area and preferably also in the calf, compared for example to the pressure in the thigh area, which means that the pressure can drop from the ankle to the calf and thigh. With the highest pressure in the ankle area and slightly lower pressure in the calf area, there is a strong compression there and thus a strong geometric leg shape, so that in In conjunction with the additional optical accentuation provided by the coloring according to the invention, a particularly narrow view of the lower leg down to the knee is achieved.

The compression of the compression knit is essentially achieved by the elastic, compressive weft or support thread, which is inserted into the basic knit stitches or is itself knitted to form a stitch. The high compression of the weft or support thread or the compression knit part creates the geometric shape of the body area, for example the leg, as described. If a graduated pressure profile is provided, the highest pressure can be in the ankle area, for example it is around 10 - 45 mmHg and preferably decreases towards the upper body. In the calf area the pressure can still be 80 - 90% and in the thigh area 60 - 80% of the ankle pressure.

Furthermore, at least one knitted thread can have a shiny effect. In combination with, for example, a transparent circular knit in the case of stockings or tights and the intended color shading, a particularly slimming effect can be achieved, as a shiny line is formed in the middle, especially on the front, and a matte effect is formed on the edges, which is beneficial for optical accentuation. In addition, the leg also appears stretched and accentuated in the front and back areas.

As described, the compression knit consists of one or more basic knit threads and at least one elastic, compressive weft thread. The stitch height of the basic knit stitches can, for example, decrease in the direction of the ankle in a stocking or tights, but otherwise remain the same over the rest of the length of the knitted part. Stitches of the same height are also preferred for knitted parts of a different design. The basic geometry of the compression knit part, when not worn, can be either by a varying number of stitches in the individual stitch rows, so that, for example, a conical shape is created. Alternatively, the stitch rows can always have the same number of stitches per row and the conical shape can be created by the weft thread that runs through the stitch rows. The basic knitted stitches can also be knitted in such a way that different stitch sizes result when worn.

As stated, three effects are superimposed on the knitted part according to the invention to achieve "body area shaping", firstly the effect of active area shaping through the compression effect of the compression knitted part, which can be varied locally depending on the design of the compression knitted part and the pressure curve, meaning that specific areas can be shaped accordingly. In addition, as described, the knitted part is thin and transparent, so that the skin can shine through, thus creating an optical lightness and the basic knit only adding minimal bulk. As described, the compression version and the transparent version are combined.

The "optical area formation" is superimposed on this by the intended coloring or shading. When designed as a compression knit, this shading can be selected depending on the area formation caused by the compression. Depending on how the compression knit is designed in terms of the local pressure or pressure gradient, the body areas can be more or less compressed and thus more or less actively geometrically shaped. The coloring can then be based on this, which means that it is possible to select the coloring or shading in terms of the local arrangement, the size or width and length as well as the shading or transition area depending on the local geometric area formation obtained by the compression.

The Figures 1 - 3 show a partial view of a person 1, namely the two legs 2, wherein the person 1 is wearing a knitted part 3 according to the invention in the form of tights 4. The tights 4, which cover both legs 2, are designed as a compression knitted part 5 and have a base knit consisting of one or more base knit threads and at least one elastic, compressive weft thread. The weft thread can be inserted into the base knit stitches, but it can also be interwoven with them. The knitted part 3 is designed as a compression knitted part over the entire length of the two legs 2, in the panties and body area above it the base knitted part can also have lower or no compressive properties.

A "compression knitted part" is understood to mean a knitted part that exerts a targeted compression pressure on the part of the body it covers, in this case the legs 2, whereby this pressure is significantly, usually several times higher than the pressure exerted by a "normal" knitted part that does not contain a compressive weft thread, in this case a pair of "normal" tights. Such "normal" tights are of course also stretchy and sit on the leg with light pressure. However, this low pressure is in no way comparable to the many times higher, targeted compression pressure that the compression knitted part according to the invention exerts on the leg.

For example, the compression knit part 5 is a medical compression stocking, which, for example, meets the quality and Test specifications of RAL-GZ 387/1 "Medical compression stockings" of the Quality Mark Association for Medical Compression Stockings e. V. However, this does not necessarily have to be the case; the compression knit part 5 or the tights in this case can also be tights suitable for sports that build up a correspondingly high compression pressure, but also fashionable tights that nevertheless build up a sufficiently high compression pressure.

Basically, the compression pressure that the compression knitted part 5 designed as a stocking or in this case as tights 4 exerts on the leg should be around 10 - 15 mmHg in the ankle area 6, 8 - 10 mmHg in the calf area 7 and 7 - 8 mmHg in the thigh area 8, i.e. values that are many times higher than the "pressure values" exerted by a standard stocking or standard tights. The pressure can decrease from the ankle 6 over the calf 7 to the thigh 8, thus creating a graduated pressure profile.

In any case, the pressure exerted by the compression knit part 5 on the respective leg results in a geometrical shaping of the leg, i.e. the leg section that is covered is compressed accordingly by the local, high pressure. This inevitably results in a corresponding shaping of the leg, depending on the mobility of the tissue covered. This means that simply by designing the knit part 3 as a compression knit part 5, an active geometrical leg shaping is achieved, which in particular leads to the area of the calf 7 and the area of the thigh 8 being compressed, thus being anatomically pre-shaped. Since, for example, the tibia and fibula run along the front of the calf, i.e. there is a certain bone structure that counteracts the compression pressure, the compression properties result in a compression in the calf area, particularly in the area of the sides of the calf, i.e. the calf as a whole, viewed from the front or back, is somewhat is formed more slenderly. The situation is similar in the thigh area, which is however more muscular and has more tissue than the calf area. According to the invention, in addition to this compression-related geometric shaping of the respective leg 2, an "optical leg shaping" is also provided, in that the knitted part 3 or compression knitted part 5 has locally lighter and darker areas that merge seamlessly into one another. In the example shown, darker areas 9, 10 are formed in the area of the calf 7 and 11, 12 in the area of the thigh 8 on the outside of the knitted part. As the Figures 1 - 3 and particularly Fig. 3 shows, these darker areas are only found on the sides of the respective leg of the tights, but not on the front and back, i.e. not in the area of the shin and fibula or the front thigh and also not in the area of the back calf and the back thigh. There are correspondingly lighter areas 13, 14 and 15, 16 respectively, which are formed, for example, by the base color of the compressive, transparent base knit, i.e. essentially the base color of the base knit thread(s) or the weft thread if applicable.

It is clear that the darker areas 9 - 12 transition seamlessly, i.e. continuously, into the lighter areas 13 - 16, which is indicated in the figures by the shading or dashes. The darker areas can have a constant darker color in the middle area, but the shading can also change continuously from one side to the other.

These darker areas 9 - 12 can be created, for example, by locally printing or locally dyeing the compression knit part 5 or the base knit 6. It is conceivable that the compression knit consists of different threads that have a different color absorption capacity or of threads that generally absorb color and threads that do not absorb color. For example, it is conceivable to knit the color-absorbing threads only in the areas in which the darker areas 9 - 12 are to be formed and to knit the base knit in the lighter areas, only one or more basic knit and weft threads that do not absorb any dye. This makes it possible to print the entire length of the tights, for example, as the dye is only absorbed in the area provided and equipped for this purpose. The same applies when dyeing a large area in a dye bath.

Alternatively, it is possible to knit the darker areas 9 - 12 by knitting in one or more slightly darker base knit threads, compared to the base knit threads forming the lighter areas 13 - 16, and to create the stepless, flowing transition by appropriately varying the number of stitches in the individual stitch rows and the like. It is also conceivable that the compression base knit consists of one or more, at least locally knitted, thermally sensitive base knit threads, i.e. base knit threads that show a color change when heated accordingly, i.e. permanently change their color.

As already described, the compressive effect of the compression knit results in active geometric leg shaping. The formation of the shading results in the dark areas 9 - 12 and the light areas 13 - 16 and their local positioning, which also results in an optical "leg shaping" in that the leg, viewed from the front and back, appears slimmer overall. This optical "leg shaping" or this optical effect is superimposed on the geometric leg shaping, which means that the leg looks even slimmer. Two effects are therefore superimposed on one another here.

The effect of this "leg shaping" is said to be Figures 4 - 6 are presented as comparison figures. The Figures 4 - 6 show comparable views of a person 1 or their legs 2, whereby the person 1 in this case wears normal, commercially available tights 17, which only apply very little pressure to the leg 2 and have no compressive properties. It is clear that there is neither a geometric nor a optical leg shaping, that is, the leg in the calf and thigh area, see the front and back views according to the Figures 4 and 5 , is significantly stronger or appears to be stronger than in the comparable views according to the Figures 1 and 2 . What is missing here is both the active geometric leg shaping through the compression properties and the additional optical leg shaping through the coloring.

Even if the tights are in accordance with the Figures 4 - 6 It is a normal, commercially available pair of tights, which, as in the prior art, for example, US1654064 If it were a pair of well-known, shading tights, the respective leg would still be or appear significantly stronger than in the comparison views according to the Figures 1 and 2 It has been found to be very surprising that a significant improvement in leg shaping can be achieved by making such shaded tights or, more generally, such a shaded knitted part as a compression knitted part and that the two different effects, namely, on the one hand, optical leg shaping through shading and, on the other hand, active geometric leg shaping through compression, can be advantageously superimposed.

The base knit consists of one or more light, for example skin-colored base knit threads and is transparent so that the skin of the leg is visible or shines through and forms the light areas 13 - 16 or is partly responsible for their brightness, while the darker areas 9 - 12 are printed accordingly or created using darker knit threads. A shiny thread can also be incorporated into the knitted part 3, i.e. the tights 4, for example as an additional base knit thread, so that the tights 4 have a shiny effect in addition to a matte effect, which in turn is visually advantageous in terms of a slim appearance.

Claims (9)

1. Knitted piece (3), on the external side of which one or a plurality of dissimilarly bright and dark regions (9 - 12, 13 - 16) which transition continuously into one another are formed, and which has a basic knitted fabric consisting of at least one basic knitted fabric yarn, wherein the basic knitted fabric is embodied as a knitted compression fabric (5), characterized in that at least one elastic weft or support yarn is inserted or knitted into the knitted compression fabric (5), and said basic knitted fabric is embodied as a thin, sheer knitted fabric that is transparent in a worn position.

4. Knitted piece (3) according to Claim 1, characterized in that the basic knitted fabric consists of a plurality of basic knitted fabric yarns, wherein the dissimilarly bright regions (13 - 16) are formed by dissimilarly bright basic knitted fabric yarns.
5. Knitted piece (3) according to Claim 4, characterized in that the stitch count of the basic knitted fabric yarns having a dissimilar colour in the continuous transition region continuously decreases from one region (9 - 12) to the adjacent region (13 - 16).
6. Knitted piece (3) according to Claim 4 or 5, characterized in that the coloured weft or support yarn is also partially knitted so as to form loops on the external side of the knitted fabric.
7. Knitted piece (3) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the darker regions (9 - 12), in terms of the worn position, are provided on the lateral portions of the tubular knitted compression fabric piece (5).
8. Knitted piece (3) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that said knitted piece (3) is an arm stocking or leg stocking, a pair of tights, a top, or a body belt.
9. Knitted piece (3) according to Claim 7 and/or 8, which is embodied as a leg stocking or as a pair of tights, characterized in that the darker regions (9 - 12) extend from the calf (7) beyond the thigh (8), and/or in that said knitted piece (3) has a graded pressure profile, wherein the highest pressure is in the region of the ankle (6).
