- the side facing the plastic container side of the insulating layer is made of cardboard and the grid frame associated with the insulating layer should be made of aluminum, the aluminum layer is to serve as a heat shield and heat dissipation, while the cardboard layer should cause an insulating effect by difficult heat transfer.
- the insulating layers of cardboard and aluminum can additionally between weather-resistant outer layers of plastic, z.
- plastic As polyethylene be arranged.
- a disadvantage of this known embodiment is that the bottom-side removal fitting and the entire inner container topsoil with filler neck and screw cap remains freely and openly accessible and these components are thus exposed to the flames of an adjacent fire completely unprotected. As a result, such a pallet container with insufficient flame protection only very briefly withstand the effects of an externally acting fire.
- This known pallet container is designed to comply with the NFPA-30 fire safety regulations for the storage of flammable and flammable liquids monitored by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and is designed to keep the inner blister at fire for at least 20 minutes (with the assistance of one Sprinklerstrom) protect against damage or leakage of the liquid filling material.
- UL Underwriters Laboratories
- the four separate blank parts of the fire protection insulation mat for the four side walls of the plastic inner container with their respective overlapping overlapping strips consist of two equal and two different sized sections, with their attached overlapping strips are formed so large that - waiving a separate insulating mat section for the top floor of the plastic inner container - a complete overlapping coverage of the top floor takes place together with the filling opening.
- the two equal sized blank parts of the fire protection insulation mat for the two longer side walls of the plastic inner container each have a hanging overlap strip with a width of about 100 mm to 450 mm, preferably about 300 mm, in a simple way as a wide Overlapping strip to cover the top of the plastic inner container from the top of the top of the topsoap are designed to be foldable.
- a further embodiment of the invention provides that the two differently sized blank parts of the fire protection insulation mat for the two shorter side walls of the plastic inner container with two different width overlap strips are provided as cover flaps for the topsoil of the inner container, wherein the rear blank part of the fire protection insulation mat a Overlapping strip with a width of about 300 mm to 550 mm, preferably about 450 mm, and the front side blank part of the fire protection insulation mat has an overlap strip with a width of about 1100 mm to 600 mm, preferably about 850 mm.

- the front cover which covers the screwed on the filler neck screw cap, extends approximately to the rear Crossbeam.
- the end or the front edge of the front - slightly longer - cover flap is pushed under the front edge of the rear cover to about the rear cross member, so that the front cover is covered by a piece of the rear cover, or the two cover flaps overlap by a good distance.
- a separate rectangular blank portion is provided for complete coverage or coverage of the bottom recess for access to the removal fitting in the front side wall blank part of the fire protection insulation mat, which is larger than the rectangular recess formed for the removal fitting , wherein the separate blank part of the fire-resistant insulating mat is sewn with its lower edge on the bottom side of the fire-resistant insulating mat below the plastic inner container, so that it is designed as DeccKlappe from bottom to top before the recess hinged and clamped behind a horizontal grid bar.
- the inside fiberglass-containing fiber fleece layer is usually non-conductive.
- the antistatic / conductive coated fabric of the outer layer is also applied on the inside in the region of the filler neck and the removal fitting and thus in direct contact with the plastic inner container. Thereby a grounding of the dischargeable blower is ensured via the conductive inner layer to the fabric outside and thus to the mesh basket or the bottom pan.
- FIG. 1 is designated by the reference numeral 10, an inventive pallet container (UL-IBC) with a filling volume of 1000 I, with a (not apparent) thin-walled rigid inner container made of thermoplastic material for storage and the transport of particularly dangerous flammable liquids, with a plastic container as a support jacket tightly enclosing tubular lattice frame 12 and a bottom pallet 14 on which the plastic container rests and with which the support shell is firmly connected.
- the pipe frame 12 (outer container) of the pallet container 10 consists of welded together vertical and horizontal tubes 16, 18. To obtain a closed outer container, the circulating horizontal tubes 18 are connected to each other.
- the bottom pallet 14 can be designed as a steel pallet, as a composite pallet (tubular steel frame with plastic feet) or as a special heat-resistant wooden pallet.
- a fire-resistant insulating mat 20 is arranged as a complete enclosure directly between the pipe frame frame 12 and the plastic inner container.
- the fire-resistant insulating mat 20 consists of several, preferably five, different sized sections, which overlap in the corner regions of plastic inner container and pipe grid frame 12 each by a piece.
- This overlap or overlap of the adjoining blank parts of the fire protection insulating mat 20 should be at least about 20 mm to 120 mm, preferably about 75 mm.
- These overlapping strips 22 formed in this way extend in the vertical direction at the upper and lower edges of the tubular lattice frame 12 or the plastic inner container in the horizontal direction and in the rectangular corner regions of the adjoining side walls of the tubular lattice frame 12.
- the screw cap screwed onto the filler neck centrally located in the upper bottom of the inner container is covered by an upper large cover flap 24 and the lower removal fitting is covered by a smaller cover flap 26, so that the plastic inner container is completely enveloped and completely packed, and in the case of fire no flames and direct heat (hot air) can get to him.
- the sections of the fire-resistant insulating mat 20 are not sewn together, because this would be too laborious and costly. They are simply set in the pipe frame 12 and clamp themselves in the overlap strip 22 itself until the inner container is used and all sections are clamped between inner container and pipe rack frame. The only exception is the small rectangle section for covering the removal fitting, which is firmly sewn to the bottom section 32.
- This small cover flap 26 is to its fixation in the closed State only pushed behind the first transverse grid tube rod (horizontal rod) above the sampling fitting and thereby clamped. Upon access to the lower removal fitting, the cover flap 26 can simply be pulled out by hand behind the transverse tube rod and put behind it again for closing.
- the long upper cover flap 24 for covering the screw cap on the upper filler neck is plugged in the case of closure under the front edge of the opposite, unfolded from the rear wall section 42 on top of the plastic inner container overlap strip 44 to a transversely transverse cross member 48 and thereby fixed. To open or to expose the screw cap, this cover flap 24 is pulled out from under the overlap strip 44 and pushed back after filling the inner container and screwing the screw again under the opposite overlap strip 44 and clamped.
- FIG. 2 shows in a circular section the structural structure of the fire-protective insulating mat 20, which is here formed in two layers with an outer textile fabric layer 28 and an inner fiber fleece layer 30:
- the outer fabric fabric layer 28 is provided with a polyurethane coating.
- the coating is enriched with a metal powder.
- the metal powder is preferably made of aluminum pigments.
- This surface coating of polyurethane with aluminum powder is applied on the one hand for high heat radiation.
- this polyurethane coating also has antistatic properties (30-50 G ⁇ -100 V), as a result of which the UL-IBC according to the invention is suitable for EX applications and can be certified with the appropriate EX approval.
- the textile fabric used in the outer textile fabric layer 28 is made of high-quality partially textured and twisted yarns and is outstandingly suitable for thermal and acoustic insulation with high temperature resistance. It is available in a low-cost version for medium-high claims with short-term temperature load of about 600 ° C and permanent temperature load of about 550 ° C under the name "isoTEX" freely available on the market and is commonly used as a heat protection fabric z. B. for welding curtains and fire blankets.
- a special textile fabric is freely available on the market and available.
- This high-temperature-resistant "silTEX” protective fabric was specially developed for long-term and long-term use in the high temperature range and is non-flammable. It is particularly suitable as a heat protection and insulating fabric for the highest temperature stress and provides excellent protection, even against liquid metal splashes and glowing slags.
- the nonwoven fabric used is made of mechanically needled silicate glass fibers having excellent insulation properties and high temperature resistance.
- the fleece mats are very flexible and are used industrially for insulation or insulation; they are available on the market under the name "isoFLEX" for these purposes.
- Base part is a large bottom wall part 32 with dimensions of 1000 mm x 1170 mm with laterally revolving folded overlap strips 22 on all four side edges, wherein the front, slightly higher overlap strip 34 has a recess 36 for access to the removal fitting.
- the small rectangular cover flap 26 is provided, which is firmly sewn below the bottom wall portion 32.
- the fire-resistant insulating mat comprises two opposing sections 38 for the longer side walls, each with large overlap strips 40 at the top.
- a section 42 is provided with a large slightly trapezoidal overlap strip 44 at the top and for the front wall a rectangular section 46 with a very large slightly trapezoidal overlap strip at the top, this very large overlap strip as the upper large Cover flap 24 is referred to, since it is folded over the screw cap of the upper filler neck.
- FIG. 4 shown in a perspective view, as the individual sections of the fire protection insulation mat 20 in composite cubic shape with open upper floor, or with unfolded upper overlap strips 40, 44 and unfolded upper cover flap 24 in the corner areas with the Overlap overlap strips 22 (without enclosing tubular lattice frame of the pallet container).
- FIG. 5 is the cubic shape of the assembled sections of the fire-resistant insulating mat 20 with closed upper floor or with folded upper overlap strips 40, 44 and retracted upper cover flap 24 can be seen.
- the front of the upper cover flap 24 is covered by a piece in the order of about 50 mm to 100 mm from the wide upper overlap strip 44.
- the assembly of the individual sections of the fire-resistant insulating mat 20 does not take place in free space, but gradually into the pipe grid frame 12 of the pallet container.
- the bottom wall portion 32 is placed symmetrically on the surface of the bottom pallet 14 and the small cover flap 26 for the removal fitting is pulled out between the two central vertical bars.
- the slightly longer overlap strips 34 of the front wall and the rear wall are raised from the inside against the pipe bars of the lattice frame, then the two narrower overlapping strips 22 of the longer side edges are also raised from the inside against the pipe bars.
- the front wall portion 46 of the fire-resistant insulating mat 20 is suspended in the lattice frame 12, wherein the lateral overlap strips 22 are bent in the vertical corner areas from the inside against the adjacent side walls of the tubular lattice frame such that each of the outermost vertical rod of the adjacent side wall is covered by at least 10 mm.
- the upper large cover flap 24 at the top of the front wall 46 initially remains free to the outside.
- the opposite portion of the fire-resistant insulating mat for the shorter rear wall of the plastic inner container is inserted into the pipe frame 12, wherein the lateral overlap strips 22 are bent in the vertical corner areas equally from the inside against the adjacent side walls of the pipe grid frame such that each of the outermost vertical rod the adjacent side wall is covered by at least 10 mm.
- two upstanding eyelets are formed laterally next to the filler neck or the screwed-on screw cap, which are inserted through specially provided slots in the upper overlap strip 44 and the Abdeccklappe 24 of the fire protection insulation mat 20 so that they protrude upwards ( please refer Fig. 1 ).
- the so-called cross members 48 are inserted through and screwed to the upper outer edge of the pipe grid frame 12. These crossbeams 48 are used for secure fixing and holding down the overlapping four sections of the fire-resistant insulating mat 20 (overlapping strips 40, 44 and large cover flap 24).
- FIG. 6 and FIG. 7 are once again the individual blank parts from the inside with outer overlap strips for the subfloor, the front and rear walls and for the two opposite side walls shown in more detail.
- a region 50 is executed dotted gray;
- a dotted gray area 50 at the bottom of the floor insulating mat 32 is performed directly in front of the recess 36 in the overlap strip 34 and almost the entire bottom of the large cover flap 24 is drawn as a dotted gray area 50.
- These gray dotted areas 50 symbolize that here also the inside (or underside) of the fire-resistant insulating mat is covered with the silver-colored outer textile fabric layer (28).
- gray dotted area 50 with the electrically conductive textile fabric layer.
- the cover flap 26 is sewn to the bottom portion 32.

This known pallet container is designed to comply with the NFPA-30 fire safety regulations for the storage of flammable and flammable liquids monitored by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and is designed to keep the inner blister at fire for at least 20 minutes (with the assistance of one Sprinkleranlage) protect against damage or leakage of the liquid filling material.
In this embodiment, however, is disadvantageous that the screw cap on the upper filler neck is completely free and unprotected. During a fire test, it was found that the sheet metal parts used in the fire protection jacket distort and deform under external heat in such a way that gaps form at the abutting edges and between the sheet metal flap and the front metal sheet, through which heat and flames can penetrate. As a result of the flames reaching the lower removal area, the plastic valve began to burn and, as a result, already occurred Leaks after 10 minutes. This known construction of a fireproof pallet container also requires a complex and costly production and assembly with insertion of the additional components of the sheet metal casing including the upper cover sheet metal plate. Also, the blow-molded plastic inner container is electrically isolated from the grid frame and the bottom tray by the glass fiber insulation, so that a lattice-like wrapping of thin metal wire is required as an electrical connection for discharging electric charges.
It is an object of the present invention to further develop a generic pallet container with flame retardant equipment such that the existing disadvantages of the prior art are overcome and an improved and cheaper version is made available to the special customers of this particular product.
Solution: This object is achieved with the special features of patent claim 1. The features in the subclaims show further advantageous design possibilities of the pallet container according to the invention.
Due to the fact that the fire protection insulation mat on all sides, d. H. from all six sides, around the cube-shaped plastic container, also in front of its upper screw-lid region and bottom-side product removal region, and the adjacent side edges of the individual wall sections of the fire-resistant insulating mat in the four vertical right-angled corner regions and in the horizontal upper and lower orthogonal corner areas along the side edges of the plastic inner container overlap a piece is ensured in a simple but safe way that the heat-sensitive inner container made of thermoplastic material is protected at any point from direct flame exposure, wherein in the fire-resistant insulating mat in the area around the screw cap for the upper filler neck and in the area around the optionally. Attached removal fitting in each case an openable and resealable overlapping cover flap is formed, whereby the screw cap and, if necessary, the removal fitting fully covered and accessible at all times.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the four separate blank parts of the fire protection insulation mat for the four side walls of the plastic inner container with their respective overlapping overlapping strips consist of two equal and two different sized sections, with their attached overlapping strips are formed so large that - waiving a separate insulating mat section for the top floor of the plastic inner container - a complete overlapping coverage of the top floor takes place together with the filling opening. In this case, the two equal sized blank parts of the fire protection insulation mat for the two longer side walls of the plastic inner container each have a hanging overlap strip with a width of about 100 mm to 450 mm, preferably about 300 mm, in a simple way as a wide Overlapping strip to cover the top of the plastic inner container from the top of the top of the topsoap are designed to be foldable.
A further embodiment of the invention provides that the two differently sized blank parts of the fire protection insulation mat for the two shorter side walls of the plastic inner container with two different width overlap strips are provided as cover flaps for the topsoil of the inner container, wherein the rear blank part of the fire protection insulation mat a Overlapping strip with a width of about 300 mm to 550 mm, preferably about 450 mm, and the front side blank part of the fire protection insulation mat has an overlap strip with a width of about 1100 mm to 600 mm, preferably about 850 mm.
For the protection of the plastic inner container in the lower area of the protected against external flame Palettencontainers the blank part for the bottom surface of the plastic inner container is provided on all four side edges, each with an overlap strip, only the two opposite narrow overlap strips on the long side edges of the inner container a have the same width of about 50 mm to 125 mm, preferably about 75 mm. The width of the respective overlapping strips and cover flaps is always measured at right angles from their connecting line (bent edge) with the respective flat blank section.
The overlapping strip of the blank parts of the fire-resistant insulating mat is of great importance in this invention. For this purpose, it is provided in a further embodiment that the blank part for the bottom surface of the plastic inner container at the shorter rear side edge of the inner container overlap strip with a width of about 100 mm to 200 mm, preferably about 150 mm, and at the shorter front Side edge of the inner container has an overlap strip with a width of about 100 mm to 300 mm, preferably about 200 mm, said overlapping strip is interrupted in the middle and provided with a recess for access to the removal fitting. In order to protect the removal fitting safely against unwanted heat, the invention provides that on the underside of the blank part for the bottom surface in front of the recess in the overlap strip on the shorter front side edge of the inner container, a rectangular portion of the fire protection insulating mat is sewn, with the Recess for the removal fitting at the side edges is completely overlapping coverable.
In order to meet various requirements, the fire-resistant insulating mat is expediently formed in two layers and has for this purpose an outer heat-resistant textile fabric layer and an inner layer made of heat-resistant fiber fleece. In this case, the outer textile fabric layer is equipped with a metal powder-containing polyurethane coating, which is formed by a filling with aluminum powder electrically conductive (dissipative).
To derive electrical charges from the surface of the plastic inner container, a direct contact must be made with this to the outside, including the closable overlapping cover flaps of the fire protection insulation mat for the upper screw cap and the lower removal fitting also inside equipped with the electrically conductive textile fabric layer are. This also makes the handling of the cover flaps more pleasant because you do not come with your hands directly in contact with the inner, fiberglass-containing fiber fleece of the fire protection insulation mat.
For applications with normal requirements, it has been found for the thermal protection of the pallet container thus equipped against the effects of heat of a blazing fire, that it is sufficient if the inner nonwoven layer and the outer fabric layer of the fire protection insulation mat for a one-sided short-term (less than a minute ) Temperature load of at least about 600 ° C are designed. Accordingly, it is provided in the same cost-effective manner that the inner non-woven layer and the outer textile fabric layer of the fire-resistant insulating mat for a one-sided permanent (over five minutes) temperature load of about 550 ° C are designed.
For extreme applications with extreme heat protection requirements, the inner fleece layer and the outer fabric layer of the fire-resistant insulation mat can be designed for a one-sided brief (under one minute) temperature exposure of about 1600 ° C and for a one-sided lasting (over five minutes) Temperature load of 1200 ° C be designed.
In an embodiment of the invention, it is expediently provided that the fire-resistant insulating mat has a total thickness with outer textile fabric layer and inner nonwoven layer between 5 mm to 8 mm, preferably 7 mm, wherein the thickness of the outer fabric fabric layer only 1 mm to 2 mm , preferably about 1.5 mm. The overlapping strips according to the invention with double wall thickness of the individual wall sections of the fire-resistant insulating mat are on the one hand in the four vertical corner areas of the grid frame or the plastic inner container and on the other horizontally circumferentially at the top and bottom of the grid frame. Along the side edges on the 90 ° bends of the plastic inner container, the distance to the pipe bars of the lattice frame is greater than in the flat side walls of plastic inner container and grid frame, so that in these corner areas between plastic inner container and outer grid frame advantageously sufficient There is room for the double-layered overlapping strips of the fire-resistant insulating mat.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the front and / or the rear side wall part of the fire protection insulation mat is designed to be extended upwards such that it is above the screw cap laid in the manner of a cover flap or in the direction of the opposite side wall part superimposed, whereby a far-reaching overlap of the upper insulating mat parts is achieved and the screw cap is completely and safely covered. The front and the rear cover flap are each passed under the two transverse members of the lattice frame and are fixed by them on the top bottom of the plastic inner container. Preferably, the front cover flap is made a bit longer than the rear cover flap. The rear - slightly shorter - cover flap extends almost to the upper filler neck. The front cover, which covers the screwed on the filler neck screw cap, extends approximately to the rear Crossbeam. To close the fire-resistant insulating mat, the end or the front edge of the front - slightly longer - cover flap is pushed under the front edge of the rear cover to about the rear cross member, so that the front cover is covered by a piece of the rear cover, or the two cover flaps overlap by a good distance.
As a safe protection of the lower removal fitting a separate rectangular blank portion is provided for complete coverage or coverage of the bottom recess for access to the removal fitting in the front side wall blank part of the fire protection insulation mat, which is larger than the rectangular recess formed for the removal fitting , wherein the separate blank part of the fire-resistant insulating mat is sewn with its lower edge on the bottom side of the fire-resistant insulating mat below the plastic inner container, so that it is designed as DeccKlappe from bottom to top before the recess hinged and clamped behind a horizontal grid bar. This prevents certainty that in the event of fire, flames can enter the free space around the doghouse, which - as was usual with known pallet containers of this type - the projecting into the free space, made of plastic extraction valve and its handle quickly melt and burn.
By the above-indicated features of the present invention, it is possible to form a generic pallet container with flame retardant device such that it is easier and cheaper to produce, consists of fewer components and is lighter in weight, the tightness of the filled plastic inner container at least for a duration of flame exposure of about 25 minutes is guaranteed.
Further advantages of the present inventive solution are in particular: The inside fiberglass-containing fiber fleece layer is usually non-conductive. In the present construction, the antistatic / conductive coated fabric of the outer layer is also applied on the inside in the region of the filler neck and the removal fitting and thus in direct contact with the plastic inner container. Thereby a grounding of the dischargeable blower is ensured via the conductive inner layer to the fabric outside and thus to the mesh basket or the bottom pan.

The screw cap screwed onto the filler neck centrally located in the upper bottom of the inner container is covered by an upper

Of course, the assembly of the individual sections of the fire-resistant insulating

From the previous description and the figures representations it is clear that in the corner areas on the top floor of the inner container each have a fairly large area is overlapped and thus there is a double wall thickness of the fire protection insulation mat. In
