Abstract

The invention relates to a renovation building element (1) having, at a lateral distance from each other, at least two support frames (2) comprising stiffening supports (3a, 3b) opening towards each other and placed onto opposite sides of the element. Between the supports is a thermal insulation layer (4) comprised of insulating material. The element further includes a thermal insulation sheet (5) extend-ing between said at least two support frames (2) and fastened to the support frames.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a renovation building element according to the introduction part of claim 1.
  • In Finland, as in many other countries, there are many buildings in need of repair, in particular multi-storey blocks of flats. To repair these, various renovation methods are used, in which it is typically necessary to build scaffolding and place sheeting around the entire building for the duration of the renovation work, causing inconvenience to the residents.
  • The object of the present invention is to provide a renovation building element for renovating the facades of old buildings, in particular residential buildings, the element providing good thermal insulation and being less detrimental to the residents during renovation work.
  • To achieve this object, a renovation building element according to the invention is characterized by the features presented in the characterizing part of claim 1.
  • On top of a mineral wool sheet is preferably placed a wind protection layer, for example, a wind protection fabric. The mineral wool sheet is preferably placed from its inner surface coming against the wall to be renovated into the same plane as the corresponding inner surfaces of the support frames, the thickness of the sheet being preferably less than the thickness of the support frames.
  • In the following, the invention is described in more detail with reference to the accompanying figures, in which:
  • Fig. 1
shows a diagrammatic view directly from the front of an embodiment example of a renovation building element according to the invention,
    Fig. 2
shows an isometric view of the element of Fig. 1, and
    Fig. 3
shows an additional detail of the support frame as viewed on an enlarged scale.
  • According to Figs. 1 and 2, a renovation building element 1 includes, at a distance from each other, support frames 2, between which is arranged a mineral wool sheet 5. The support frames 2 include, placed onto opposite sides of the renovation building element 1, stiffening supports opening towards each other and at a distance from each other, which, in the embodiment example shown, are U-shaped metal supports 3a, 3b, between which is a thermal insulation layer 4 comprised of insulating material, preferably construction wool lamellae, in which the fibres are substantially perpendicular in relation to the main surfaces of the element. As the stiffening support can be a metal support or straight sheet metal provided with some other kind of profile, such as, for example, a hat profile. The mineral wool sheet 5 is fastened from its edges to the support frames 2 preferably by gluing, but the fastening can also be performed mechanically, for example, using suitable clamps. To improve adhesion, the edges of the mineral wool sheet are preferably milled. The mineral wool sheet 5 is preferably placed from its inner surface coming against the wall to be renovated into the same plane with the corresponding inner surface of the support frames and its thickness W1 is preferably less than the thickness W2 of the support frames. In this case, onto the side facing outwards in relation to the wall to be renovated of the renovation building element, between the support frames 2 is formed a channel portion 7, which can be utilized in ventilating the renovation building element. To the outer surface of the mineral wool sheet is preferably fastened a wind protection fabric or membrane or other wind protection layer 6, which allows water vapour to travel from the mineral wool sheet into the channel portion 7. Fastening of the renovation building element to the wall structure to be renovated occurs at the support frames 2 using suitable fastening means (not shown), such as, for example, screws.
  • When using a renovation building element according to the invention on sites, on which a plastered surface is desired, to the support frames of the element is preferably fastened a plastering base. As the plastering base can be, for example, a fibre cement board or corresponding nearly inflexible plastering board. The plastering base is preferably attached to the renovation building element at the factory, but this can also be performed only at the installation site. The renovation building element can also be provided with another facade surface board/unit ready at the factory and/or on the worksite.
  • If desired, in the mineral wool sheet can be arranged separate vertically travelling ventilation channels (not shown), for example, supply air channels, which can be connected to the supply air channels leading to the room spaces. In this case, the thickness W1 of the mineral wool sheet is preferably at least 150 mm.
  • Fig. 3 shows the bottom end area of a single support frame 2 provided, at the bottom end of each metal support 3a, 3b, with a guide link 8 placed around the metal support and protruding downwards from the bottom edge of the support frame 2. The guide link 8 is dimensioned such that the metal supports 3a, 3b of the lower renovation building element 1 settle inside the guide link, wherein renovation building elements to be installed one on top of the other are reliably guided into alignment. The guide link can be considered as to be installed also to the upper end of the metal support of the renovation building element.
  • A renovation building element is preferably 2.4 m wide, the distance between the support frames being preferably 600 mm (from midpoint to midpoint), wherein there will be 5 frames per element. The height of the element is preferably 3 m and the thickness in the range 100 mm - 300 mm. These dimensions are only examples and they can be easily modified according to need.
