- the present invention provides a ceramic watch chain, in which a separate pin or a separate groove is not formed, thus reducing the manufacturing cost of the watch chain.
- a ceramic watch chain 10 is schematically configured such that a plurality of central connecting pieces 100 and a plurality of outer connecting pieces 300 located externally above and below the central connecting pieces 100 are connected to each other to be flexibly bent or extended.
- a pair of through holes 110 is formed on both sides of each central connecting piece 100.
- outer connecting pieces 300 are located externally above and below the central connecting piece 100 and have insert holes 310 formed on both sides thereof to correspond to the through holes 110.
- a fastening pin 500 passes through the through hole 110 on one side of the central connecting piece 100 and is inserted into the through groove 310 on the other side of the outer connecting piece 300.
- the central connecting pieces 100 and the outer connecting pieces 300 are alternately connected to each other via a fastening pin 500 like a stacked brick structure.
- a pair of through holes 110 is formed on both sides of each central connecting piece 100.
- Inner connecting pieces 200 are located externally above and below the central connecting piece 100, and each have connecting holes 210 formed on both sides thereof to correspond to the through holes 110.
- Outer connecting pieces 300 are located externally above and below the inner connecting pieces 200, and each have insert holes 310 formed on both sides thereof to correspond to the connecting holes 210.
- a fastening pin 500 passes sequentially through the through hole 110 formed on one side of the central connecting piece 100 and the connecting hole 210 formed on the other side of the inner connecting piece 200 to be inserted into the insert hole 310 formed on one side of the outer connecting piece 300.
- the central connecting pieces 100, the inner connecting pieces 200 and the outer connecting pieces 300 are alternately connected by the fastening pins 500.
- the central connecting pieces 100, the inner connecting pieces 200, and the outer connecting pieces 300 are preferably made of a ceramic material, particularly, zirconia ceramic.
- zirconia ceramic is the second hardest material after diamond, is excellent in terms of gloss, and is not scratched, it is used as a material for luxury watch chains.
- the fastening pin 500 is a cylindrical shell having on both ends thereof a plurality of cut slits 520.
- the fastening pin 500 has the shape of a slender pipe that is hollow therein.
- the fastening pin 500 passes through the through hole 110 of the central connecting piece 100 and the insert hole 310 of the outer connecting piece 300 (see FIG. 2 ). Meanwhile, in the case of the "watch chain of the second embodiment", the fastening pin 500 passes through the through hole 110 of the central connecting piece 100, the connecting hole 210 of the inner connecting piece 200, and the insert hole 310 of the outer connecting piece 300 (see FIG. 4 ). Thereby, the fastening pin may connect the connecting pieces to each other to allow them to be flexibly bent or extended.
- the plurality of cut slits 520 is formed on the both ends of the fastening pin 500, so that outer circumferences of the both ends of the fastening pin 500 are cut along the cut slits 520 and then bent outwards during the manufacture of the watch chain 10 to be caught by an interior of a fastening groove 330.
- the coupling structure will be described below.
- each insert hole 310 is formed in the outer connecting piece 300.
- each insert hole has a diameter corresponding to the through hole 110 of the central connecting piece 100 or the connecting hole 210 of the inner connecting piece 200.
- the fastening groove 330 that is slightly larger in diameter than the insert hole 310 is formed outside the insert hole 310.
- a fixing member 400 is coupled to a lower surface of the fastening groove 330.
- the fixing member 400 includes a body portion 410 having a cylindrical shape, with a conical inclined portion 430 being formed on an upper portion of the body portion 410.
- the body portion 410 has a diameter corresponding to that of the insert hole 310, and the height of the body portion 410 is formed to be slightly lower than the insert hole 310 by a length corresponding to a thickness of the fastening pin 500.
- Such a configuration is made because the outer circumferences of the both ends of the fastening pin 500 are bent outwards and thereby the both ends of the fastening pin 500 are fitted between the inclined portion 430 formed on the upper portion of the body portion 410 and the inner side of the fastening groove 330, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 7 .
- an adhesive member 600 is applied to a lower surface and an inner circumference of the fastening groove 330 of the outer connecting piece 300.
- the adhesive member 600 is thinly applied to the lower surface and is slightly thickly applied to the inner circumference.
- the fixing member 400 is attached to the lower surface of the fastening groove 330. Since the diameter of the body portion 410 of the fixing member 400 corresponds to the diameter of the insert hole 310, the fixing member 400 has only to be pushed into the insert hole 310 and then attached to the lower surface of the fastening groove 330.
- a lower end of the fastening pin 500 is inserted into the insert hole 310 to come into close contact with the inclined portion 430 of the fixing member 400.
- an upper end of the fastening pin 500 is struck by a rubber hammer or the like, so that an outer circumference of the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is cut and flared along the cut slits 520 to be bent outwards relative to the conical inclined portion 430.
- the reason why the plurality of cut slits 520 are formed on the both ends of the fastening pin 500 as such is as follows: because the body of the slender fastening pin 500 may be bent when being struck by the rubber hammer or the like, the cut slits 520 are formed on the fastening pin 500 to allow the both ends of the fastening pin 500 to be easily bent outwards.
- the cut slits 520 are also formed on the upper end of the fastening pin 500, it is preferable that the upper end of the fastening pin 500 is covered by a member capable of absorbing shocks that acts on the upper end and then is struck by the rubber hammer or the like so as to prevent the upper end of the fastening pin 500 from being cut.
- the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is caught by the inner side of the fastening groove 330, and a surface of the lower end is attached to the adhesive member 600. Consequently, the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is fixedly coupled to the fastening groove 330, namely, the outer connecting member 300.
- the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is coupled to one of the pair of fastening grooves 330 of the outer connecting piece 300. Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 8 , the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is coupled to the other fastening groove 330 in the same manner.
- the fastening pin 500 In order to prevent the fastening pin 500 from being corroded and allow the both ends of the fastening pin 500 to be bent outwards, the fastening pin 500 should possess certain ductility and rigidity. For this reason, the fastening pin 500 is preferably made of a stainless steel material.
- the fastening pin 500 passes through the through hole 110 of the central connecting piece 100.
- the upper end of the fastening pin 500 protrudes from the through hole 110.
- the upper end of the fastening pin 500 protrudes from the connecting hole 210 in the above-mentioned case.
- the upper end of the fastening pin 500 is inserted into the insert hole 310 of the outer connecting piece 300.
- the fastening pin 500 passes through the through hole 110 of the central connecting piece 100 (first embodiment) or passes through the connecting hole 210 of the inner connecting piece 200 (second embodiment), and then the outer connecting piece 300 is coupled to the upper end of the fastening pin 500.
- FIG. 12 another embodiment where the fastening pin 500 is coupled to the outer connecting piece 300 is illustrated.
- the structure of the fastening pin 500 is the same as the above-mentioned structure.
- the coupling manner is as follows: the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is inserted into each vertical groove 335 and the upper end of the fastening pin 500 is struck by the rubber hammer or the like. In this case, while the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is cut along the cut slits 520 and is flared in the inclination direction of the inclined groove 340, the fastening pin 500 is bent. Thereby, the fastening pin 500 is secured to the inclined groove 340, namely, the outer connecting piece 300.
- the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is coupled to one of the pair of inclined grooves 340 of the outer connecting piece 300. Thereafter, the lower end of the fastening pin 500 is coupled to the other inclined groove 340 in the same manner.
- the central connecting piece 100 is inserted into the fastening pin 500, and the outer connecting piece 300 is coupled to the upper end of the fastening pin 500 in the same manner.
- FIG. 1 illustrates a conventional ceramic watch chain.
- the ceramic watch chain 10 according to the present invention is configured such that both ends of the fastening pin 500 are bent outwards and secured to the fastening groove 330 of the outer connecting piece 300.
- this obviates the necessity of forming the holes 30 on the back as in the general ceramic watch chain 10 of FIG. 1 . Therefore, the watch chain of the present invention provides an attractive appearance and is stylish.
- the ceramic watch chain 10 according to the present invention may be applied to only the watch chain connected to a watch body 20 like section A of FIGS. 2 and 3 , but may not be applied to a watch-chain fastener (not shown) like section B of FIGS. 2 and 3 .
- the ceramic watch chain 10 is configured such that the fastening pin 500 is fixedly coupled to the outer connecting piece 300 and thereby it is impossible to separate the connecting pieces 100 and 300.
- the connecting pieces of section B should take a separable structure like the existing watch-chain connecting pieces 50 and 60 shown in FIG. 1 .
