Abstract

The invention concerns an applicator (10) for a cosmetic product, in particular for mascara, comprising a core (12) that extends in a main longitudinal extension direction, referred to as the extension axis (X), and a plurality of protuberances (31, 32) projecting and extending radially from the core (12), said protuberances (31, 32) being moulded with the core (12). Said protuberances (31, 32) are of at least two different types, a first type of protuberances (31) being in the form of plates (31) and a second type of protuberances (32) being in the form of teeth (32), said first and second types of protuberances (31, 32) being arranged in succession along said extension axis (X). The invention also relates to an associated applicator assembly.

Applicator for cosmetic product and associated applicator assembly

The invention relates to an applicator for a cosmetic product and an associated applicator assembly.

Cosmetic product applicator assemblies are known, in particular for a cosmetic product intended to be applied to eyelashes such as mascara, comprising a container containing the cosmetic product and an applicator adapted to be removably attached to the container.

The container generally comprises a body, the body comprising walls defining a reservoir in which the cosmetic product is contained, and a neck defining an opening through which the cosmetic product can be extracted.

The applicator assembly generally includes a cap adapted to be attached to the neck, a stem extending from the plug and an applicator attached to a free end of the stem. The applicator comprises a core and a plurality of protuberances extending from the core for loading the eyelashes into a cosmetic product and combing them.

When the cap is fixed on the neck, the rod and the applicator extend inside the tank. The applicator is immersed in the cosmetic product contained in the reservoir.

To use the applicator, the user detaches the neck cap and extracts the applicator from the container.

To prevent the applicator from being overloaded with cosmetic product, the container generally comprises a wiper, fixed inside the neck. When the user extracts the applicator from the container, the applicator slides inside the wiper. The wiper scrapes the cosmetic product in excess on the stem and the applicator.

The present invention aims to solve the following problem: to provide an applicator that allows to load eyelashes satisfactorily while painting them.

Thus, the invention relates to an applicator for a cosmetic product, in particular for mascara, comprising a core extending in a main direction of longitudinal extension, called the extension axis, and a plurality of protuberances. protruding, and extending radially from the core, said protuberances being molded with the core.

According to the invention said protuberances are of at least two different types, a first type of protuberances in the form of trays and a second type of protuberances in the form of teeth, said first and second type of protuberances succeeding one another along said extension axis.

The advantage associated with the applicator of the invention lies in the possibility of loading the eyelashes of the user with the cosmetic product thanks to the trays, while painting them, thanks to the teeth, and this all along the applicator of the invention because the succession of the two types of protuberances is axially.

The invention also relates, advantageously, to an applicator assembly for a cosmetic product, comprising a container comprising a body forming a reservoir intended to contain the cosmetic product, and an applicator as described above, adapted to be fixed on the container, of so that the applicator is housed inside the tank.

The invention relates to an applicator 10 for a cosmetic product, in particular for mascara, comprising a core 12 which extends in a main direction of longitudinal extension, called the extension axis and marked X in FIGS. 2 and 3.

The applicator 10 according to the invention also comprises a plurality of protuberances 31, 32 projecting and extending radially from the core 12, said protuberances 31, 32 being molded with the core. Here, the protuberances 31, 32 are from material with the core 12. In other words, the core 12 and the protuberances 31, 32 are molded in continuity of material in the same material. This has the advantage of simplifying the manufacture of the applicator 10 according to the invention. This also has the advantage of better controlling the rigidity imparted to said protuberances 31, 32.

The core 12 and the protuberances 31, 32 may be molded from a material based on LDPE (low density polyethylene). Other materials may still be used, namely the "EXACT" material of ExxonMobil or the "HYTREL" material of Dupont, or a mixture of these materials.

Alternatively, the protuberances 31, 32 are overmolded on the core 12, in particular for the purpose of varying the colors of the elements composing said applicator 10.

As can be seen in FIG. 1, the core 12 has a proximal end 13 and a distal end 1 6. The proximal end 13 is able to be fixed to an applicator rod (not shown) by a sleeve 14 extending said core 12. The sleeve 14 has no protuberances.

It should be noted that the core 12 has a cross section of constant shape type, namely polygonal. More specifically, the cross section of the core 12 has a polygonal shape with straight sides, preferably six sides. Preferably, the type of shape and / or the angular orientation of said transverse section of the core 12 is substantially constant, from its proximal end 13 to its distal end 1 6. By this is meant that although the cross section of the core 12 may have a surface of variable dimension along the core 12, it keeps the same type of contour and / or the same angular orientation. Said cross section is, for example, hexagonal and without angular displacement of said distal end 1 6 at said proximal end 13.

As illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, and according to the invention, the protuberances 31, 32 are distributed along said core 12 over a substantial part of its length from the distal end 1 6. In addition, the protuberances 31, 32 are distributed over the entire radial periphery of the core 12.

Alternatively, the protuberances are distributed over a discrete portion of the radial periphery of the core 12 (embodiment not shown) to obtain additional makeup effects, and / or complementary to those described herein.

In the following, a radial row of protuberances 31, 32 will be understood to mean a row of protuberances 31, 32 arranged around the core 12, in the same plane orthogonal to the axis of extension X, said plane cutting the core 12 according to a section which is here substantially circular.

The applicator 10 is dewatered during its extraction from the reservoir by a wiper disposed inside thereof.

According to the invention, the protuberances 31, 32 are of at least two different types.

A first type of protuberances 31 is in the form of trays 31 (see Figure 1). Each plate 31 here occupies an angular portion of the core 12. In other words, said plates 31 each extend from one side of the core 12; they extend advantageously along the entire said side. The trays 31 thus have a wide base and are refined towards their free end. Since the plates 31 form at least one radial row as defined above, and considering that the core 12 is polygonal, the plates 31 form angular interstices between them. Said interstices are further configured to retain the cosmetic product when the applicator is removed from its container and is scraped by the wiper. In other words, the interstices, which have a substantially concave shape, rounded or not, serve as a reservoir for cosmetic product. This therefore makes it possible to propose an applicator 10 which offers a strong loading capacity in cosmetic product.

It should be noted, by way of non-limiting example, that the trays 31 are of substantially triangular shape and preferably have a rounded free end.

On the other hand, the applicator 10 according to the invention comprises a second type of protuberances 32 which are in the form of teeth 32. These teeth 32 have a half-circular section and each have a flat surface. They are positioned so that two adjacent teeth 32, of the same axial row, are arranged in staggered rows, their planar surface being each oriented in an opposite direction of rotation, for example on either side of the same axial edge of blade. Said teeth 32 are provided rectilinear, and each extend in a normal to the axis of the core 12. Said teeth 32 confer, to the applicator 10 of the invention, a capacity to comb the eyelashes in addition the effect obtained by the radial rows of trays 31. Thus, according to the invention, and as can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3, said first and second types of protuberances 31, 32 follow one another along the axis of extension X of the core 12. Here, the radial rows of trays 31 follow the radial rows of teeth 32 along the axis of extension X of the core 12. As a reminder, the advantage associated with the possibility of loading the eyelashes of the user into a cosmetic product thanks to the trays 31, while painting them, thanks to the teeth 32, and this all along the applicator of the invention because the succession of the two types of protuberances 31, 32 is done axially.

On the other hand, the radial rows of trays 31 and the radial rows of teeth 32 form zones, respectively called zone of first type Z1 and zone of second type Z2, which follow one another axially from proximal end 13 to the end. distal 1 6 (see Figures 2 and 3). It has been found, moreover, that the trays 31 have an ability to flex which is less than the ability to bend teeth 32, especially in the axial direction.

As a result, the radial rows of trays 31 have a higher resistance as they pass through the wiper (not shown here) than when the radial rows of teeth 32 pass therethrough. In other words, the radial rows of trays 31, when they reach the level of the wiper, block and lead to a jerky withdrawal of the applicator from its container.

To overcome this disadvantage, it will be possible to give flexibility in the radial rows of trays 31, in particular by varying the dimensions of the section of the core 12. In other words, the core 12 advantageously has at least two cross sections S1, S2 with respect to the extension axis X, said two sections having different dimensions (see Figure 3). Thus, the core 12 has a cross-section with respect to the extension axis X, said first section S1 in the zones of the first type Z1, and a second section S2 in the zones of the second type Z2, the dimensions of the first section S1 being lower than those of the second sections S2. In particular, the dimensions of the first section S1 are smaller than those of the second sections S2 which are directly adjacent thereto (see FIG. 3).

Preferably, said sections S1, S2 respect the following formula:

° ' ^7≤ fsi ^≤ °' ⁹ . For example, the section S1 is inscribed in a circle of diameter substantially equal to 2 mm and the section S2 in a circle of diameter substantially equal to 2.5 mm.

Thus, the core 12 of the applicator 10 of the invention is refined at the location of the radial rows of trays 31 to give them an increased flexural capacity in comparison with the zones Z2 carrying the radial rows of teeth 32. , in Figures 2 and 3, that the core 12 is refined at the location of the radial rows of the plates 31, but also in their vicinity, over an axial distance of a few tenth of a millimeter, for example over an axial distance of 0 , 3mm.

It should be noted that the plates 31, like the teeth 32 each extend in a normal to the axis of the core 12. The zones of first Z1 and / or second type Z2 comprise at least two radial rows of protuberances 31, 32 which follow each other along the axis of extension X. In particular, radial rows of plates 31 alternate, along the extension axis X, with y radial rows of teeth 32, and y respecting the formula ¹ <x, y ^{β β} . In the exemplary embodiment illustrated here, without this being limiting, two radial rows of plates 31 systematically and successively alternate, along the extension axis, with four radial rows of teeth 31.

Providing radial rows of trays in the form of pairs, that is to say two radial rows of trays without radial row of teeth interposed, has the advantage of further improving the charging power of the brush. The zone located between each plate of the same pair will indeed be protected by the upper plate, that is to say the tray wrung first when the user leaves the applicator of the tank, at the moment when said zone passes to through the wringer.

The teeth of two successive radial rows of teeth are here tangent one internally and the other superiorly to the same plane transverse to the soul.

It is worth noting, again, that the soul is full. It may, however, be hollow without this outside the scope of the invention. As a reminder, the invention also relates to an applicator assembly for a cosmetic product, comprising a container (not shown) comprising a body forming a reservoir containing the cosmetic product, and an applicator 10 as previously described, adapted to be fixed on the container, so that the applicator is housed inside the tank. Said applicator 10 is fixed, for example, to the end of a rod, itself attached to a plug (not shown) advantageously screwed to the container. After assembly, the sleeve 14 is located in the rod and the proximal end 13 of the core forms the visible proximal end of the applicator. On the other hand, the protuberances 31, 32 form an envelope E, in particular defined by their periphery (see Figure 2). Said envelope E has a substantially frustoconical shape, especially between said proximal ends 13 and distal 1 6. The truncated cone formed by said envelope E has, for example, a circular section in the vicinity of the proximal end 13 having a diameter between 6.5mm and 9.5mm, in particular substantially equal to 8mm and a circular section, in the vicinity of the distal end 1 6, whose diameter is included between 3.5mm and 5.5mm, in particular substantially equal to 4.5mm. The frustoconical shape of the envelope E has the advantage of facilitating the passage of the applicator 10 through the wiper, during its reinsertion into the container, in particular after use.

It should also be noted that the applicator 10 forms a brush, in particular a mascara brush.

It should also be noted that variant embodiments are of course possible. In particular, in a further embodiment, the core is curved, from its proximal end to its distal end.
