Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for operating a capsule filling machine, wherein the capsule filling machine comprises a plurality of capsule conveying devices, each having a plurality of capsule receptacles for receiving a respective capsule, wherein the capsule filling machine further comprises a plurality of process stations arranged along a preferably circular conveying path, namely at least a feed station for feeding capsules to be filled into the capsule receptacles of the capsule conveying devices, at least one opening station for opening the capsules to be filled by separating the capsule tops from the capsule bottoms, a plurality of metering stations for filling the capsule bottoms with filling material, at least one closing station for closing the filled capsules, and at least one ejection station for ejecting the filled capsules.
- the capsule filling machine comprises a plurality of capsule conveying devices, each having a plurality of capsule receptacles for receiving a respective capsule
- the capsule filling machine further comprises a plurality of process stations arranged along a preferably circular
- Capsule filling machines having a plurality of process stations arranged along a circular conveying path are also referred to as rotary capsule filling machines.
- they have a conveying wheel which carries the capsule conveying devices and which is moved intermittently by a conveyor drive, for example, so that the capsule conveying devices pass through the individual process stations of the capsule filling machine in clocked fashion.
- the process stations are usually also driven by a mechanical vertical shaft and, if appropriate, mechanical cam disks, by the conveyor drive driving the conveyor wheel and are thus movable only together with the conveyor drive.
- capsules are filled only with a filling material, so that accordingly only one dosing station is required.
- Such capsules can be weighed after closing outside the capsule filling machine by means of a balance. Since that Weight of the capsule shell on the specification of the manufacturer is known with sufficient accuracy and fluctuations in this compared to the total mass of the filled capsule are very low, can be closed by the total weight of the filled capsule detected by the balance on the capacity without capsule.
- a machine and method for filling and capping hard gelatin capsules are known.
- a drive is provided with which the conveying path or the angular step and the direction of rotation of the conveying wheel of the capsule filling machine are variably adjustable, so that individual processing stations of the capsule filling machine can be approached regardless of their arrangement on the conveyor wheel.
- a space-optimized arrangement of processing stations or a high degree of flexibility with regard to the individual processing or process steps should be made possible.
- the empty capsule is inserted again into the receiving bore and fed by means of the conveyor drive directly to the filling device of the capsule filling machine and filled with a desired filling.
- the filled capsule is fed by changing the direction of rotation of the feed wheel by means of the conveyor drive back to the weighing device, which then determines a gross weight of the filled capsule.
- a control device can determine the filling quantity from the two weighing results.
- the X-ray testing device to be calibrated is approached directly by means of the conveying drive, which likewise determines the filling weight of the filled capsule.
- the measurement result of the to be calibrated X-ray inspection device is calibrated based on the measurement result of the weighing device. That in the DE 10 2010 040 505 A1 described method represents a complex calibration process for the normal operation of the capsule filling machine must be interrupted. The method also involves a high manual effort.
- the present invention seeks to provide a method of the type mentioned above, with a capsule filling machine with multiple dosing in a constructive and production technology simple way, the capacity of individual dosing can be reliably determined.
- a capsule filling machine is used, for example a so-called rotary capsule filling machine, in which the process stations are arranged, for example, along a circular conveying path.
- hard gelatin capsules can be filled in the capsule filling machine according to the invention.
- the filler may be powdered or made of pellets, for example.
- the capsule conveyors carrying the capsules in their capsule receptacles are conveyed intermittently or continuously through the process stations by a conveyor wheel which is cyclically or continuously driven by means of the conveyor drive.
- the capsule filling machine used in the method according to the invention has a plurality of metering stations each having at least one metering drive operable independently of the conveyor drive.
- the metering stations may be, for example, pellet stations.
- dosing stations can be used in the capsule filling machine.
- a servo motor can be used for the conveyor drive.
- the metering stations can also comprise servo motors as metering drives.
- punch carriers of the metering stations are each actuated by an electric spindle drive.
- the metering drive of at least one metering station participating in the regular operation of filling the capsules is actuated within the scope of a test series that occurs during normal operation of the capsule filling machine for a defined period of time so that no filling material is conveyed into the metering station through this metering station for the duration of the predetermined period Capsule bottoms is filled.
- the corresponding dosing station thus temporarily no longer participates in the production process and the capsule parts are incompletely filled with filling material compared to the regular production process.
- the test series can be triggered, for example, by a control device of the capsule filling machine, in particular automatically.
- the temporary shutdown of at least one metering device otherwise takes place during normal production operation, that is to say the conveyor drive and the process stations continue to run under normal process conditions, with the exception of the at least one inactive switched metering station. There is thus a production of capsules according to the normal operating conditions, wherein only at least one of the metering stations is inactive.
- These closed capsules are supplied to a testing device, in particular a weighing device, which is arranged outside the capsule filling machine but communicates with the capsule filling machine, and weighed by it.
- the measurement result is fed to an evaluation device.
- the evaluation device can be integrated in the control device of the capsule filling machine, so that a common evaluation and control device is formed, or one of these be separate evaluation.
- the measurement result may be the weight measured for all capsules that were incompletely filled during the test series.
- the evaluation device can then process these measured weights mathematically for further evaluation, for example forming an average value.
- the testing device can mathematically process the measured weights before forwarding them to the evaluation device, for example to form an average value.
- the period of time in which the test series carried out according to the invention lasts can, for example, be predetermined by the process stations in cycles by a certain number of cycles of the conveyor wheel during which the at least one dosing station is then inactive.
- the number of sample capsules, ie in particular the period of the test series, as well as which of the dosing station (s) are switched inactive, can be set automatically by the control device.
- the inventive method has a number of advantages over the prior art.
- the inventive simple and cost-effective random checking of the filling quantity of all metering stations enables, in particular, systematic errors to be reliably detected and corrected.
- the inventive method is independent of the type of dosage and independent of the respective filler and thus universally applicable.
- An incorrect filling quantity in particular due to incorrect metering or due to product loss due to transfer of the contents from the metering station into the open capsule base or during the further delivery by the capsule filling machine, can be achieved by comparing the actual weight of the measured capsules with a desired weight also be determined.
- the required space is reduced compared to the methods known from the prior art.
- By arranged outside the capsule filling machine testing device cleaning is simplified. The process reliability is increased and there is an acceptable measuring method.
- the invention allows by the selective switching off individual dosing a separation of the otherwise inevitably mixed in the capsule body contents and thus after the ejection a further review of individual contents, for example, in terms of composition, moisture, weight, etc.
- the invention is also applicable to so-called double-barreled capsule filling machines applicable, as for example in the DE 10 2013 109 471 B3 are shown. It can then be carried out jointly or separately from each other for both track sections of the conveyor track test series and capsules a common test facility and optionally laboratory test equipment or each a separate test facility and optionally laboratory testing device supplied. Accordingly, the weight measurement results obtained in the test device (s) and, if appropriate, laboratory test device (s) can be supplied to a common evaluation device or in each case to a separate evaluation device per web section. The evaluation of the measurement results can be carried out for both web sections in the manner according to the invention.
- the capsule filling machine during operation of the capsule filling machine, and when all dosing stations participating in the filling of the capsules are active, completely filled capsules produced in the capsule filling machine are ejected in the at least one ejection station and at least temporarily also the testing device arranged outside the capsule filling machine fed, which measures the weight of these fully filled capsules and gives the measurement result to the evaluation.
- the weight measurement of the fully filled capsules can - except for the period of the test series - also take place during the entire regular production.
- the capsules measured so far can be further processed in the manner provided in each case, for example, output. Often, however, it will be useful to carry out the weight measurement of the completely filled capsules also only for a predetermined period. Again, for example, the measurement result may be that for all weights measured during the weight measurement of the fully filled capsules.
- the evaluation device can then mathematically process these measured weights for the further evaluation, for example forming an average value. But it is also conceivable that the checking device already mathematically processes the measured weights before forwarding them to the evaluation device, for example forms an average value.
- the evaluation device may further infer a reference to the difference between the measurement results for the incompletely filled capsules and the measurement results for the completely filled capsules on the filling quantity of the temporarily inactive switched at least one dosing station.
- the product quantity of the dosing station switched inactive during the test series is not calculated.
- At least one other of the dosing stations participating in the filling of the capsules is switched inactive as a result of at least one further test series inactive in the first test series by corresponding activation of its dosing drive, so that in this at least one other dosing station no filling material is filled into the capsule parts, and in the at least one further test series in the capsule filling machine produced capsules ejected in the at least one ejection station and fed to the outside of the capsule filling machine arranged test device, the weight of these not completely filled Measures capsules and gives the measurement result to the evaluation.
- different dosing stations can in each case be individually deactivated in succession within the scope of a plurality of test series, and the corresponding filling quantities can be determined in each case for the dosing station switched inactive in the manner explained above, for example by the subtraction explained above.
- the incompletely filled capsules can also be supplied to a laboratory testing device in which these capsules are opened and at least the weight of the filling material in the capsules is measured without the respective capsule.
- the laboratory testing device can also give the measurement result to the evaluation device.
- the evaluation device can then also infer the weight of the capsule itself based on a difference between the measurement results of the test device and the laboratory test device.
- the evaluation device controls the metering drive of at least one of the metering devices for adapting the amount of filler material filled into the capsule lower parts on the basis of the measurement results of the test device and / or the laboratory test device and / or the conclusions drawn therefrom. It can therefore be constructed a control loop, wherein the control device automatically changes the filling amount of individual metering stations due to the Runaway led random measurements.
- the execution of the test series is in addition to the adjustment of the quantities of dosing by means of the control device as already mentioned automatically possible, for example, at predetermined time intervals.
- a control device of the capsule filling machine to be ejected capsules differ in whether they are to be supplied to the test device or not. It can further be provided that the capsule filling machine comprises at least two ejection stations, wherein a first of the ejection stations ejected capsules leads to the testing device and wherein a second of the ejection stations ejected capsules to a dispensing container passes. It is also conceivable, of course, to provide only one ejection station, wherein then capsules ejected through a switch arranged downstream of the ejection station can be directed to the test device or to an output container.
- control device can control the first and / or the second ejection station in such a way that capsules to be supplied to the test device are ejected in the first ejection station and directed to the test device.
- the control device can control the ejection station leading to the test device in such a way that capsules which are not completely filled are ejected in this ejection station during a test series and are fed to the test device.
- the test device can be moved with respect to completely filled, but also the test device to be supplied capsules.
- the distinction between suitable for further processing Gutkapseln and not suitable for further processing sample capsules for example, in a cyclic conveying the feed wheel based on a counting of the clocks of the capsule filling machine possible.
- the duration of the test series can be defined, for example, by a specific number of clocks. It is then mathematically possible to determine after how many more cycles the first capsule delivery device equipped with sample capsules reaches the ejection station leading to the testing device, so that this first batch of sample capsules can be clearly identified. Subsequently, for the number of cycles defining the duration of the test series, further capsule-conveying devices are likewise identified as carrying the sample capsules and fed to the testing device.
- FIG. 1 shows very schematically a capsule filling machine used in the method according to the invention.
- the capsule filling machine has a feed wheel 30, which is rotated by a conveyor drive, not shown, for example, a servo drive, cyclically or continuously, as illustrated in the figure by the arrow 32.
- a conveyor drive not shown, for example, a servo drive
- a plurality of capsule conveying means 14 are provided, each receiving a plurality of capsules in a plurality of capsule receptacles.
- the capsules are cyclically conveyed by the capsule conveyors 14 together with the conveying wheel 30 through a plurality of process stations arranged along a circular conveying path in the present example.
- the process stations are illustrated in the figure by circled numbers. Nos.
- 01 and 02 illustrate feeding stations to which the prefilled capsules to be filled are supplied for accommodation in the capsule conveying devices 14, as shown at 16 in the figure.
- the number 03 in the figure denotes an unused in the production process blank station.
- Number 04 illustrates an opening station in which the pre-closed capsules are opened, in particular the capsule tops are separated from the capsule bottoms.
- Numbers 05, 06 and 07 each show a dosing station.
- the metering stations are further illustrated at reference numerals 18, 20, 22.
- all of these metering stations 18, 20, 22 participate in filling the capsules, wherein in each of the metering stations 18, 20, 22 another filling material is filled into the capsule lower parts.
- the metering stations 18, 20 are metering stations of the same type, while the metering station 22 is a metering station of a different type.
- the metering stations 18, 20, 22 can basically be stuffing stamp stations and pellet stations or else other metering stations.
- the figure again shows a vacancy not participating in the process.
- the number 09 designates a closing station, in which the capsule tops are connected to close the capsules with the capsule parts.
- Numbers 10 and 11 in the figure show two ejection stations. In these capsules 16 are ejected from the capsule filling machine. In the ejection station 11, for example, good capsules can be ejected for further use, while in the ejection station 10, for example, sample capsules can be ejected that are not provided for further use.
- a combined evaluation and control device of the capsule filling machine is furthermore provided at reference numeral 24. Via a line 26 is connected to the evaluation and control device 24 arranged outside the capsule filling machine test device 28, in this case a weighing device connected. The evaluation and control device 24 controls in operation within a test series for a predetermined period at least one of the metering stations 18, 20, 22 inactive.
- each of the metering stations 18, 20, 22 has its own and independently of the conveyor drive operable metering.
- This dosing drive is controlled by the evaluation and control device 24 for the predetermined period, for example, in a cyclic conveying a defined number of cycles of Kapselfüllmaschine, so that in the respective dosing station 18, 20, 22 no filling material is filled into the capsule parts.
- the evaluation and control device 24 can determine on the basis of the counting of the machine cycle when the capsule delivery device reaches the ejection station 10 with the capsules which are not completely filled in the course of the test series.
- the capsules contained in these capsule conveying devices are ejected in the ejection station 10 in a controlled manner by the evaluation and control device 24 and the Test device 28 supplied, and indeed until all not completely filled in the context of the test series capsules of the test device 28 have been supplied.
- the test device 28 in each case carries out a weight measurement of the capsules which are not completely filled and transmits the measurement result via the line 26 to the evaluation and control device 24. Outside this test series, capsules filled completely by the evaluation and control device can also be filled by the evaluation device during normal operation.
- the evaluation and control device 24 can make a determination of the filling quantity of the dosing station switched inactive during the test series from a difference in the measurement results, for example correspondingly formed mean values or individual measurement results.
- the method explained above can be carried out successively for each of the metering stations 18, 20, 22, and the filling quantities of the metering stations 18, 20, 22 can be correspondingly automated randomly checked. If the evaluation and control device 24 detects deviations from a desired filling value of one or more of the metering stations 18, 20, 22, the evaluation and control device 24 can also automatically control the metering drive of the corresponding metering station (s) for adjusting the filling quantity of the respective metering station. If appropriate, the sampling measurement described above can then be carried out again as part of an automatic control loop until the measurement result largely corresponds to the desired value.
