Definitions
- the imposed DCL box usually has a means of fixing the mechanical suspension element associated with a connection means of the electrical conductors.
- a means of mechanically fastening a suspension element such as for example a stud bolt on which is hooked the clevis provided for this purpose on the axis of suspension of a chandelier.
- a suspension element is usually constituted by a threaded cylinder hereinafter designated “chimney”, installed fixedly or removably in the center and inside the box. Recessed.
- This "chimney” element is sometimes also used to reinforce the fixing of the flush-mounting box in the ceiling.
- the flush mounting box is screwed onto a threaded rod fixed to the solid structure of the building which ensures a tear resistance that the stirrups alone could not provide.
- the flush-mounting box is most often closed by a cover having at least one central hole allowing the passage of the suspension bolt.
- a suspension device usually comprising a support plate for example metal, of shape and dimensions adapted and compatible with the luminaire suspension housing that it receives by simply screwing at least one side fixing screw.
- Said luminaire support plate hereinafter referred to as "hook” is generally constituted by a pierced metal strip whose ends are bent at 90 degrees and have perforations intended to receive the lateral fixing screws.
- the peg of these luminaries is more numerous, is fixed directly on the ceiling and usually by means of two fixing points.
- the luminaire cover must be placed flat on the ceiling and the drilling points marked. The holes are then made to allow the installation of the fixture bracket by screwing in previously laid pins.
- the American patent John BUCHER published on August 29, 2002 under the number US2002 / 01 18545 describes a device based on a method of attachment not using a luminaire peg but rather to special intermediate plates which one receives by screwing the luminaire housing and the other screwed at two points on the recess box receives by screwing a threaded shaft secured to said first intermediate plate. If this device effectively avoids the drilling of holes in the ceiling, it necessarily involves the fixing by screwing intermediate plates totally differentiated commercial luminaire pegs. On the other hand. It applies the total weight of the suspension to small screws fixing an intermediate plate on the opening of the flush-mounting box, which limits its application to light fixtures type ceiling or globe. Fixing one of said intermediate plates on the recess box obviously requires the use of a tool such as a screwdriver.
- this invention is close to that of the author of this patent in its purpose and in that it avoids drilling in the support ceiling, it necessarily involves the use of screwing tools to fix the plate on the one hand intermediate in the central chimney of the recess box and secondly assemble the luminaire bracket on said intermediate plate.
- the application of this patent also implies a suitable hook both in the positioning of the holes and the size.
- the author of the present invention has further thought to achieve that a fixture can be installed on a ceiling with ease, by simple manipulation and without any auxiliary tool.
- the present invention relates to a device consisting of an intermediate piece intended to be installed integrally to a ceiling recess box, so as to allow the immobilization and locking of a luminaire peg in a few seconds and without even resorting to the slightest external tool.
- Said intermediate part of the device of the invention is implemented manually, by introducing its main threaded shaft into the threaded central chimney of the flush-mounting box and turning said intermediate part of the device to its chosen final position.
- Said intermediate piece can thus be adjusted in height to better adapt the fixing of the luminaire and leave no unsightly space between it and the plane of the ceiling.
- the present device Unlike all existing devices or patented to date which, to avoid drilling the ceiling support uses an intermediate piece on which is secured by screwing the luminaire bracket, the present device and characterized in that the Fixture bracket is fixed and retained in the intermediate part of the device of the invention by clamping preferably between a fixed part and a moving part as in a vise and not by screwing consisting of the introduction of a thread into a thread that this one is existing or realized by the threading itself.
- the intermediate part of the device of the invention consists mainly of two preferably metallic parts hereinafter referred to as "jaws of age" of shape and dimensions adapted and compatible with their function and for example of rectangular shape, superimposed on each other. and other fixedly and movably connected together by one of their two smaller sides and preferably by means of a hinge, so as to constitute a clamping element having two clamping jaws preferably movable relative to one another. to the other.
- Said intermediate piece thus formed preferably has in the center of one of its two clamping jaws solidarrise fixed or movable and oriented outwardly thereof, a threaded axis perpendicular to the outer plane of said clamping jaw, dimensions and characteristics compatible with the dimensions and characteristics of the central chimney of the recessed box designed to receive it.
- the upper plane of the clamping jaw bearing the central axis is preferably in contact with the free end of the central chimney of the recess box or the opening plane thereof and becomes a "fixed clamping jaw", while the other clamping jaw remains movable around the hinge to be able to open or fall back on the fixed clamping jaw of the intermediate piece of the device in the manner of a simple hinge.
- the intermediate piece of the device of the invention has the function of pinching and tightening the luminaire peg between on the one hand the "fixed clamping jaw” and on the other hand the “movable jaw”, in the manner of a vise and with a sufficiently large clamping force to firmly immobilize said luminaire peg in position.
- the fixture hook thus immobilized between the two clamping jaws of the intermediate part of the device can then receive without any problem by any means of fixing the base housing of the luminaire.
- the device of the invention thus implemented offers, unlike other existing devices, a maximum resistance related and dependent exclusively on the tear resistance of the flush-mounting box.
- Nonlimiting arrangements of the intermediate piece of the device of the invention have been provided by the inventor both in terms of the intermediate piece itself as the locking mode thereof in the "closed" position.
- the device for fixing the luminaire peg consists of a preferably metal clamping piece carrying two clamping jaws cooperating with each other, hereinafter referred to for better understanding "jaws upper clamping jaw “and” lower clamping jaws ".
- the term “upper clamping jaw” means the jaw carrying the fixing means intended to be secured to the central chimney of a flush-mounting box and “lower clamping jaw”, the jaw opposite the “upper clamping jaw”, that moves around the joint to get closer to the "upper clamping jaw” and clamp the fixture bracket between the "upper clamping jaw” and the “lower clamping jaw” folded down.
- These clamping jaws are of shape and dimensions adapted and compatible with the function of the device and for example of rectangular shape.
- the two clamping jaws of the device are held in their "closed” position, that is to say close to one another and locked in this position by means of any mechanical device integrated or attached to one or the other or both clamping jaws, operable manually and without the use of a tool external to the device.
