  • on emmanche de force le corps 32 de l'embout 3 dans le manchon isolant 8 lui-même engagé dans le lamage de l'extrémité arrière 12 du corps tubulaire 1.

Claims (9)

  1. Glow plug comprising:
    - a metal tubular body (1), one end (11) thereof being terminated by a heating rod (2), the other end (12) thereof bearing a connection end fitting (3) having a body (32) and a pin (31),
    - the heating rod (2) housing the heating filament which is integrated in a heating cartridge (22A, 22B),
    - an electrode (5A, 5B) passing through the tubular body (1) in an insulated manner and electrically connecting the heating filament of the heating cartridge (22A, 22B) and the connection end fitting (3) which is in turn held in an insulated manner in the end of the tubular body (1),
    plug characterized in that
    the conductive path for supplying power to the heating cartridge (22A) comprises:
    - a wire electrode (5A, 5B) having a front end (51A, 51B) and terminated at each end by a terminal (53A, 53B; 54A, 54B), one thereof (53A, 53B) being connected to the heating cartridge (22A, 22B) by being enclosed by an insulating centring member (6A, 6B) which is wedged at the junction of the casing (21) of the heating rod (2) and the front end (11) of the tubular body (1), and the other terminal (54A, 54B) is fixed in a centred position on the pin (31) of the connection end fitting (3) which is in turn engaged in the rear end (12) of the tubular body (1), and
    - a compensating connector (4A, 4B) connecting the front terminal (53A, 53B) of the wire electrode (5A, 5B) to the heating cartridge (22A, 22B).
  2. Glow plug according to Claim 1, characterized in that
    the compensating connector (4A) is in the form of a wire connected to the front terminal (53A) and to the heating cartridge (22A).
  3. Glow plug according to Claim 2, characterized in that
    - the compensating connector in the form of a wire (4A) is connected to the wire electrode (5A) by a fixed connection blocking the rear end (43A) of the connecting wire (4A) on the front terminal (53A) of the wire electrode (5A),
    - the connecting wire (4A) has an intermediate segment (42A) between its front segment (41A) which is fixed to the heating cartridge (22A) and its rear segment (43A) which is fixed to the front terminal (53A), this intermediate segment (43A) having an excess length relative to the length (L) between the points for fixing the connecting wire (4A) to the heating cartridge (22A) and the wire electrode (5A) in the resting position, in order to achieve an extended length which is greater than the extension of the length (L) in the operating state of the glow plug, when brought to operating temperature, and
    - a centring member (6A) which is positioned at the junction of the connector (4A, 43A) and the terminal (53A) of the wire electrode (5A) in the body (1) of the glow plug.
  4. Glow plug according to Claim 2, characterized in that
    the connecting wire (4A) has a segment with an excess length (42A) having a shape selected from the group comprising:
    - an S-shape in plan view, a Z-shape in plan view, a three-dimensional S-shape, a three-dimensional Z-shape,
    - a shape having the form of a spiral or spirals.
  5. Glow plug according to Claim 3, characterized in that
    the centring member (6A) is a small circular disc which is penetrated by an axial drilled hole (61A) for the passage of the front terminal (53A) receiving the rear end (43A) of the connecting wire (4A) and fixed to the front end (51A) of the wire electrode (5A), and the opening of the casing (21) of the heating rod (2) comprises a counterbore (25) to receive the centring member (6A) in abutment.
  6. Glow plug according to Claim 2, characterized in that
    the rear end (43A) of the connecting wire (4A) is connected to the front terminal (53A) of the wire electrode (5A) by welding or crimping.
  7. Glow plug according to Claim 1, characterized in that
    - the front terminal (53B) of the wire element (5B) is connected to a compensating connector (4B) formed from a conductive bushing (41B) which is connected by the terminal (53B) to the front end (51B) of the wire electrode (5B), this conductive bushing (41B) being housed in a centring member (6B) in the form of an insulating sleeve, and
    - the end of the heating cartridge (22B) comprises a conductive head (27B) which is connected to one end of its heating filament and which is housed by being fitted into the bushing (41B) of the connector (4B).
  8. Method for producing a glow plug according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that
    - the various components are produced,
    - the heating cartridge (22A) is fixed to the metal casing (21) by soldering, which also ensures an earthed electrical connection,
    - the compensating connector (4A) is fixed to the end of the heating cartridge (22A),
    - the front end (51A) which is provided with a terminal (53A) is assembled with the wire of the compensating connector (4A),
    - the tubular body (1) is put in position and welded by a weld (15) to the socket (24) of the metal casing (21), then the terminal (54A) of the rear end of the wire electrode (5A) is pulled in order to remove the terminal from the rear end (12) of the tubular body (1) to a sufficient extent in order to connect the terminal to the pin (31) of the end fitting (3) and then to weld the terminal (54A) to the pin (31), and
    - the body (32) of the end fitting (3) is force-fitted into the insulating sleeve which is in turn engaged in the counterbore of the rear end (12) of the tubular body (1).
  9. Method for producing a glow plug according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that
    - the various components are produced,
    - the heating cartridge (22B) is assembled with the metal casing (21) by soldering, which also ensures an earthed electrical connection,
    - the connecting head (27B), which is already fixed to the end of the heating cartridge (22B), is fixed,
    - the front end (51B) which is provided with a terminal (53B) is assembled with the connector (4B) which is formed by a bushing (41B) which is engaged on the conductive head (27B),
    - the tubular body (1) is put in position and welded by a weld (15) to the socket (24) of the metal casing (21), then the terminal (54B) of the rear end of the wire electrode (5B) is pulled in order to remove the terminal from the rear end (12) of the tubular body (1) to a sufficient extent in order to connect the terminal to the pin (31) of the end fitting (3) and then to weld the terminal (54B) to the pin (31), and
